In the incredibly realistic fantasy setting of Dragon’s Dogma 2, players are tasked with crafting their own narrative-driven action RPG experience. This includes selecting how their Arisen appears, their party composition, their vocation, how to handle various scenarios, and more.
At some point in the game, players need to complete a quest named A Game of Wits. In order to complete this quest, there are several puzzles to be solved. One of these puzzles is the Riddle of Differentiation. In this guide, we are going to take a look at how to solve this riddle and where to find Vegil in the endgame “Red Sky.”
Riddle of Differentiation
The Riddle of Differentiation is the last quest you are going to need to complete in Part 2 of Sphinx Riddles. This quest is a reference to Devil May Cry. In order to complete it, you need to speak with either Dante or Vergil.
During the quest, the Sphinx will show you the illusion of a man and ask you to bring him to her. However, you should not flee too quickly because the Sphinx is attempting to deceive you once more.
The man you are going to see is one of the twins, Vergil and Dante. They might look remarkably similar, but they stay on opposing sides of Checkpoint Rest Town. Therefore, you need to pay close attention to the illusion you see because your objective will be chosen randomly.
But how are you going to see the difference between these twins? It is not as difficult as you might think, but you should know what to look for.
If the man you are seeing in the illusion has wavy hair, he is Vergil. However, if he has straight hair, he is Dante. Take a look at the images below to see the pictures of each twin.
Where to Find Vergil
Now that you know the differences between the twins, let’s take a look at where to find Vergil if he is the one in your quest.
It is pretty simple: Vergil is located on the Battahl side of the Checkpoint Rest Town. You can find him outside the doors of Rest Town, in the seafloor shrine, or anywhere around that area. Once you find him, you will simply carry him back to Sphinx. After figuring out this puzzle, you are going to get the Trickster Vocation weapon, Whimsical Daydream.
Then, all that’s left to do is place Vergil or Dante on the platform in front of the Sphinx and follow her conversation to provide the right response.
Why can’t I find Vergil?
We just talked about the exact location of the twin you are looking for. However, we also observed that some players have issues finding them despite knowing the location. There might be several reasons for you not to see Vergil (or this can happen with Dante as well). These reasons might be:
- He is already dead: You might have already killed this particular NPC while having a little bit of fun. If this is the case, you can use a wakestone to bring him back from death.
- NPC count is higher than limit: The game has a weird issue that will make NPCs disappear if the count is too high. You can try to run with a weapon around the district to make them go away. After that, restart the game and check to see if your twin is back.
Just like this, you can finally find Vergil in the Endgame in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Remember to double check before you hand him to Sphinx, and get ready for a battle to finish the quest.
