Elder Scrolls Online features a plethora of gameplay mechanics that not a lot of games have.

One of those gameplay mechanics that we will be focusing on today is the Damage Shields mechanic. This might confuse some of you because it is still confusing for some players who have been playing the game for a while now.

In this guide, we will be showing you what Damage Shields are, how they work, and when the best time is to use them.

Damage Shields Explained & How To Use Them Properly – ESO

If you aren’t sure what Damage Shields are, well to be quite frank, it’s your saving grace.

To put it into simple terms that you can understand when playing a game, putting up your Damage Shield when a boss is about to deal a devastating blow that will no doubt wipe out your entire health will reduce the damage.

Let’s say a boss is dealing 5k in damage and you have your Damage Shield up that can only take 2.5k damage. If your Damage Shield gets hit, then you can say goodbye to your Damage Shield. But it does take 2.5k damage off the original damage, meaning that your health will only take 2.5k damage instead of 5k.

It is a saving grace that you will no doubt spam a lot, but don’t actually do that.

Damage Shield is great for surviving fatal hits, but using it too much will deplete its use and eventually, you will run out.

Not for long though, as Damage Shields can come back after a while. But I advise not to solely rely on Damage Shields to survive fatal hits because there are some attacks that can penetrate through the Damage Shield and hit you.

He's also a huge fan of superhero media like Marvel and DC, so he's practically played games like Spider-Man and the Batman Arkham games. He's also into multiplayer games that strike his fancy, specifically games like Call of Duty and Fortnite. Most especially Fortnite since he can play as different Marvel and DC characters in a battle royale against other famous and iconic characters.
