Traction Control dramatically affects how you handle the car during acceleration. You will have a greater potential for faster Lap Time without it, although there is a catch. This will require some adaptation and learning to master this tricky control. Worry not, we are here to help you master it. Let’s dive in!

How To Drive Without Traction Control Guide – F1 22

You will drive much faster without Traction Control. Traction Control helps you stabilize the F1 car by automatically reducing the amount of power being sent to the wheels, resulting in a more stable rear wheel on exiting corners or slowing down as well as avoiding your car to spin.

How to turn it off:

In settings and assist tab, look for Traction Control and turn it off. If you want to slowly adapt to this change of pace, you can put it to medium setting as well.

How to drive without Traction Control:

The key to driving with it disabled is to learn on throttle input management. Mastering throttle input management will make it easier for accelerating out of corners. Full throttle on corner exits or wet circuits can cause your car to become unstable and will spin out of control.

On the other hand, accelerating from slow speeds and low gear while gradually increasing the throttle from 0 input to 100 is the ideal way to drive without Traction Control.

Short Shifting Technique:

This is the process of upshifting earlier than normal. Upshifting right before reaching the optimal RPM stops the amount of power being sent to the car’s rear wheel resulting in a reduction of wheel spin.

Apply this technique when accelerating from very low speed in low gears. This technique is also optimal for driving on wet tracks.

On Throttle Differential

On differential affects how much power goes to your rear wheels, the higher you put this setting, the higher your rear wheel will spin at the same speed.

Lowering On Throttle Differential setting helps you manage wheel spin under acceleration which is key to driving without Traction Control.

Experiment with this in practice sessions to get the perfect feel by adjusting it up and down.

Car Setup:

Adding additional rear wing aero helps improve rear downforce, but this will decrease your straight-line speed. Adjusting rear camber to a neutral setup helps your tyre to be more in contact with the track, this increases your overall grip.

We hope this guide helps you in managing rear wheel spin without Traction Control. This guide is made possible by SimRacingSetups, make sure to visit his video for more detailed information!
