Complete Sheep Guide
Sheep are livestock animals you can get in the game, just like pigs. The game features four sheep breeds: Landrace of Bentheim, Steinschaf, Swiss Black-Brown Mountain, and Black Welsh Mountain. Their only distinction lies in their appearance.
Whichever sheep you choose, there are some things you need to know about taking care of sheep in your virtual farm. Let’s start with the essentials.
Sheep Essentials
To deliver food and wool in Farming Simulator 25, you will need a tractor equipped with a front loader attachment and a bale spike. To use the front loader, first purchase the attachment from the dealer. Drive your tractor to the dealer, park it in the vehicle options area, and select the required attachment.
You will also need a barn for your sheep. In the construction menu, you can choose from three options based on your budget: the sheep pasture, the sheep barn, or the large sheep barn, all located under the “Sheep” tab. These differ in size and feeding requirements.
Get a barn to save on additional equipment costs.
Optional
You can use an animal trailer to transport animals between the cattle dealer and your barn when buying or selling them, but it’s not necessary. A trailer is only required if you want to move sheep from one barn to another.
- You don’t need to buy a trailer; buying or selling sheep directly at the barn only costs a small fee. Purchase a trailer only if you’re aiming for the full cattle farmer experience.
- When looking for a trailer at the dealership, check for the sheep icon in the “animal transport” section, indicating that the trailer can transport sheep.
You will need a truck or dolly if you have purchased a large transporter. A dolly connects the tractor to the trailer, saving you money. Smaller trailers don’t require a truck or dolly; a tractor alone is enough.
- When shopping for an animal trailer, if you see “combinations,” click it to check whether a truck or dolly is required.
If you haven’t built a barn, you will need a tank to refill the watering station in the sheep pasture.
Placing Sheep Pens
There are various options for housing your sheep:
- Pastures: Requires both feed and water, and it can accommodate fewer sheep.
- Barns: Only requires feed.
- Large Barns: Only require feed and offer more space for breeding.
Wool is produced in all three types of housing. We recommend opting for a barn rather than a pasture. To place housing for sheep, open the build menu, go to the animals, and choose sheep.
Buying Sheep
Approach the animal icon near your pen and select from various sheep breeds and ages (0, 3, or 8 months). The older sheep are fully mature and can produce offspring. You can choose from four types of sheep:
- Landrace of Bentheim
- Steinschaf
- Swiss Black-Brown Mountain
- Black Welsh Mountain
When purchasing sheep at the barn, you can have them delivered for a small fee. Alternatively, if you own a trailer, you can visit the animal dealership to buy and transport them yourself.
- Avoid filling the barn to capacity. This will save you money, and you’ll also be able to breed new sheep.
Feeding the Sheep
It doesn’t matter if you feed the sheep freshly cut grass or hay. You can provide it to them either loose or in bales. To check if you’re feeding them correctly, look at the health info. It will increase over time, and when it does, the sheep will begin producing wool and will be able to reproduce.
Selling Wool & Cloth
You can sell the animals if you are focusing on breeding them, as well as sell their wool. Wool can be sold at the spinning mill or the Farmer’s Market. To transport the wool, you’ll need a front loader attachment and a pallet fork. If you own a truck, you can transport multiple pallets at once.
At the spinning mill, wool can be turned into cloth, which you can then take to a tailor’s shop if you own one. The tailor will make clothes from the cloth, which can be sold for a higher profit.
Breeding Sheep
Sheep reproduction depends on three factors:
- Age
- Available space in the barn
- Their health
Once the sheep reach eight months old, they become mature and can breed. However, reproduction is only possible if there is enough space in the barn, and their health must be maintained at 100%. To ensure this, feed the animals regularly to keep them healthy and well-nourished.
