While playing through the Genshin Impact “Fontaine Research Institute Chronicles”, you’ll be tasked with escorting Nacker and “Retrieving the last 2 remaining Anchors.” If you’re having a hard time finishing this objective in this particular part of the quest, I got you covered! In this guide, I will show you how you can retrieve the remaining Anchors. Let’s jump right into it!

Retrieve the Remaining Anchors Guide

As mentioned, you’ll need to get 2 Anchors for this objective. I’ll provide a detailed walkthrough for each anchor including the solution to the puzzles.

NOTE: To clear things up, there will be 3 types of terminals, you’ll need to interact with as well as “Lights”:

  • Terminal – regular ones used to open up gates. They require a powered-up energy terminal to become accessible.
  • Energy Terminal – these can contain energy to transfer to other terminals and the likes. Red means unpowered and Blue means powered.
  • Transfer Terminal – these are used to transfer energy between energy terminals, as well as move to another device’s POV, like the lights.
  • Lights – these are extensions of the Transfer Terminal which can provide POV as well as transfer energy similar to how the Transfer Terminal works. Also, similar to the Energy Terminals, Red means unpowered and Blue means powered.

First Anchor

First, you’ll have to go to the Institute Dormitories. In order to reach the location, start by going to the Central Laboratory Ruins in the Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering Region.

Anchor 1 Location

Once you reach the location, follow the waypoint by going to the lower part of the ruins. For directions, look for these specific stairs and make your way down.

Upon arrival, there will be a cutscene with you, Paimon and Chronie. Afterwards, you’ll be given a new objective, which is to “Retrieve the Survey Anchor.” If you take a closer look at the map, you’ll be in Quest area which means that the anchor will be within the location.

Anchor 1 Location

Now, you’ll notice that your way will be blocked by a gate. And the terminal is red, so it won’t work either.

In order to proceed, you’ll have to pick up a Ouisa Block located nearby. Start from Nacker and Chronie’s position, head straight, and then left. You’ll see the block on top of a table as shown in the image below.

Anchor 1 Ouisa Block

Once that’s done, make your way back to the terminal and attack it anyway you’d want. With the block, you’ll be able to turn on the terminal. Activate it to open up the gate.

Anchor 1 Terminal

Inside the room, you’ll have to pick up the energy terminal and place it on the lobby (where Nacker and Chronie is positioned).

Next, you’ll want to go through the lobby again, but this time, for this Transfer Terminal as shown in the image below.

Anchor 1 Transfer Terminal

Activate the Transfer Terminal and you’ll get a POV similar to a security camera pointed towards the lobby.

Now, what you’d want to do next is click on the blue energy terminal. It will then turn red, which means its empty as you took its energy.

Once you’ve done that, click to the one you’ve placed in the lobby (the energy terminal you took from the gated room). Basically, shift the energy from one to another.

Anchor 1 Tranfer Terminal POV Shift Energy

Return to the energy terminal you’ve powered and pick it up. Next, go to the gate right in front of the Transfer Terminal we’ve used before, and place the powered energy terminal next to the regular terminal.

If you’re doing it correctly, the regular terminal has to power up as well. Open up the gate by activating the said terminal. Inside, you’ll find the first Anchor. Now, onto the next one!

First Anchor

Second Anchor

Now, for this anchor, begin by following the waypoint and reaching the Quest area within the Fontaine Research Institute of Kinetic Energy Engineering Region.

Second Anchor Quest Area

Proceed going down the flight of stairs and you’ll come across Nacker. From his location, go left and activate the Transfer Terminal right in front of you.

Upon activating it, you’ll see a Ouisa Block above the red light towards the left.

Second Anchor Ouisa Block

Now, climb up, get the Ouisa Block and attack the energy terminal right beside you to power it up. Then, return to the Transfer Terminal and use it.

Second Anchor Energy Terminal

From here, click on the red light towards the right. Your POV will switch, and you will then be able to click on the powered energy terminal.

Doing so will release its energy and power up the left red light (the one with the Ouisa Block above it).

Second Anchor Transfer Energy to Red Light

Now, click on the blue light. Your POV will switch once again, but this time you’ll get access to the unpowered energy terminal near the gate.

Click on it to power it up. Once that’s done, go outside the Transfer Terminal and make your way to the gate.

Second Anchor Terminal to Open Gate

Start the regular terminal, which will then open up the gate. Make your way inside and you’ll see the second Anchor guarded by some Lvl 90 Automatons.

After picking up the anchor, they will become hostile. But hey, at least you got what you came for.

Second Anchor

And that’s how you retrieve the remaining Anchors in Genshin Impact. Were you able to get both of them? If you have questions or concerns, feel free to leave them in the comments section below.
