You get to take control of a real-life goat in the brand-new sandbox adventure game Goat Simulator 3, which is played from a third-person perspective. You’ll have to headbutt, lick, and quintuple jump your way around the massive island of San Angora, just like in the original Goat Simulator, but this time there are all new locations, challenges, and events for you to uncover.
While in the previous game you were able to do the same things, in this review you will find out whether this latest installment has something extra and more to offer. We shall go over the Pros and Cons and in the end, we will give you our thoughts on whether it is the best Goat Simulator yet. Let’s get started.
Is It The Best Head-Butting Experience Yet? – Goat Simulator 3 Review
Before you go looking on Google and asking for where the heck might Goat Simulator 2 be – you should know that there isn’t. Goat Simulator 3 comes after the original Goat Simulator. This is a way for how the devs can have a laugh since, let’s be honest, it’s a game about a Goat smashing things.
In Goat Simulator 3 you are practically doing the very same things as before. You will have a goat with tons of options of how you can change it up and make it as customized with different powers and skills as you want, and a suburban town where you can wreak havoc in.
You are getting points as you damage things along the way with literally no objectives. There are some quests that you can follow if you choose to do so too. You will have an option to play with your friends in a multiplayer setting too.
Pros
What is the good side of this Goat running simulator?
Gameplay
Goat Simulator 3 is basically a more polished version of the original Goat Simulator. The devs didn’t want to focus as much on the funny and buggy animations and here they did improve on the gameplay a lot by adding humor with dialogue or hidden things to explore.
It is an overall very fun experience that will feel as though it is a Goat Simulator 1 with all of the mods that made it much more fun.
Multiplayer
If you have played the original Goat Simulator you will know just how sometimes you will want to call your friends and just mess around with the population of the world. Well, the devs have made this dream a reality.
Now you are able to play with up to 4 friends in a goat haven and do everything possible that you could do in a single-player setting. You can do Co-Op but also it has a dedicated online server component.
This means that you can be using your fire rockets, you can be playing Rocket League goat style in the middle of the world, head butting galore with all of your friends competing who will win the most points. Simply put, the biggest Pro for this game.
Mini Games
If you thought that you can have the absolute freedom in the world and do everything you want, you can! But the devs have added a couple of mini-games that add to this overall experience and the best thing about it – you can do it in multiplayer too!
There are 7 mini-games that you can enjoy in Goat Simulator 3:
- King of the Hill – You will stay inside the castle and on top of a hill to gain crowns
- Floor is Lava – Do not touch the lava and keep jumping up and down to avoid in the world. Making skills are needed!
- Car Derby – Drive into the rear of players’ vehicles and explore their bombs to kill them all
- Prop Hunt – A classic and very fun hide-and-seek type of game. You will be head-butting stuff to find players and lick items to turn into them
- Head Splat – Use your head butt to paint the world! You will get a point for ecah painted thing
- Hoof Ball – this is the Rocket League type of Goat Style game. You will shoot a ball inside the goal. The thing is, you might get run over by a car or a plane hits you.
- Prop Golf – get your prop to the flag ASAP. The first player that reaches this flag wins!
Customization
The customization is as great as the last game if not better. You will have all the goofy options to choose from when dressing up your goat. Whatever you might think off you can probably dress as in the game.
Three are also a lot of options available that will allow you to customize the skills of your Goat. Let’s say having the power to fly around or move at extremely high speeds, or make your head butting out of this world.
You can be other types of animals too if you wanted to. The customization is very good indeed!
Cons
Baaah!
Quests Creativity
Yes, there are quests in the game believe it or not that you can do and follow to upgrade your Goat Castle. But the thing about them is that you won’t have any freedom to do them.
You are a Goat in Goat Simulator and you would expect that you can do all sort of things when completing a quest. Well, that isn’t the case. The quests will only have 1 option on how you can complete them and most of the time if you try to wander off that 1 route, you won’t be able to complete the quest.
They were made to be simple, but as you do a lot of them one after the other you will quickly become bored of just how simple and linear they can be.
Wears Out Thin
It is still the same overall Goat Simulator experience. So for players that are looking for something completely different or just made the whole Goat Simulator game an overall makeover, you might get disappointed.
It is still the same game as before with the exact same setting. If the previous goofy gameplay and style made you bored after a couple of hours, it can be the same thing here and with just a couple of hours it will wear you out thin.
Goat Simulator 3
Summary
Even though the original Goat Simulator might be hard to follow up on, we can say that the devs did an outstanding job of improving on the elements that the original had fun with and polished it, and made it better.
It is still the same experience though, so if you are looking for something more or different from the original, do not go looking any further. This is a game that isn’t meant to be taken seriously so everyone can just relax and give it a try.
