God of War Ragnarok is a story-based action, adventure game. It contains different quests that must be completed in order to progress with the story and development of the game.
On the other hand, there are also side quests available in the game. These are not necessary for the story development, but completing these will help you understand more about the small details of the story and about the other characters.
Succeeding in these side quests also gives you specific rewards like the main story quests. One example of side quests that we want to give emphasis on is the Garden of the Dead.
How to Destroy Poison Totems | Garden for the Dead Guide in God of War Ragnarok
The side quest Garden for the Dead is a task from Astrid. That being said, you have to go and talk to Astrid’s ghost at Noatun’s Garden to start and activate the side quest.
To go here, access the River of Delta, and from the docking site, head right to see the tree where Astrid’s ghost is located. After a short conversation with Freya, you will be asked to purge the garden of poison.
There is a total of three totems that you have to destroy. You can easily spot the locations by looking for poisonous fog around.
Poison Totem 1
To start off, face southeast after talking to the ghost of Astrid. Walk straight over the puddle and wall climb on the right side.
Once you get to the top, aim for this marked spot and throw your spear.
After that, you will see a small explosion, and consider it one down.
Poison Totem 2
For the next totem, go down from your current spot and walk straight to the right. This will lead you to the spot directly in front of Astrid’s position.
Move a little to the left, and look at this spot. Throw your spear to let it explode.
Poison Totem 3
For the last spot, go back in front of Astrid and move a little to the left.
There is a small gap here where you can throw your spear.
Return to Astrid
After destroying all the poison totems, the poisonous fog will vanish. The last thing you need to do is to go back to Astrid and report it.
