Some time ago, Grounded released its Fully Yoked update, which is confirmed to be the last major patch of the game. Since then, only minor changes have been made in the next few patches, including some bug fixes here and there. Now that the dust has settled, here is a quick tier list of all the highest level armor in the game’s current (and likely final) state!
Best Tier 3 Armor Tier List
Before we begin, it should be noted that this is purely subjective and is largely based on the general opinions of the community as well. Because of this, there will be a brief explanation of the ranking in each entry of the list.
It should also be noted that minor updates that they might release in the future can still cause the rankings to shift around for a bit. This is highly unlikely though, as we haven’t seen any significant balance updates since the final major update.
S Tier
- Fire Ant Armor – This medium armor set has fairly easy to acquire components and, while its set bonus Acidic Splash may not be all that amazing, its piece effect can be really valuable. The Corrosion effect gives your melee attacks a huge potential damage boost.
- Mother Demon Armor – This heavy armor set requires some grinding at the Broodmother, but it is well worth the time. Its Venom Coating sleek effect lets you rack up a ton of damage over time, so wearing even a single piece on you can be a massive help.
A Tier
- Assassin’s Armor – It is a light armor set that heavily favors builds that are centered around critical strikes. The full set can be pretty good, but it will turn you into a glass cannon, which may not be ideal in the endgame content loop.
- Roly Poly Armor – This heavy armor set is all about blocking, and it has ridiculous potential for tanking. This is especially true for coop, as the set bonus features a taunting ability. Its individual pieces can also be great for just adding extra defense to your kit.
- Bard’s Tudor – The Bard’s Tudor is a helmet that has no set associated with it. This is made from the Wasp Queen boss’ parts, and its effects are incredibly useful for ranged users. Activating its effects has an element of risk involved, but experienced players shouldn’t have an issue with this.

B Tier
- Antlion Armor – It has a relatively niche use, specifically for ranged users due to the Quickdraw set bonus. Unfortunately, its other effects (and even the set bonus at some point) fall off the further you progress into the game, particularly in NG+.
- Fire Strategist Armor – This is a medium armor set that has effects centered mainly around buffing your summons, making it great for that particular playstyle. It has decent potential, but you are practically forced to use the whole set in order to be effective with it.
- Moth Armor – It is a light armor set that can be an okay choice for ranged users, but its effects are largely useless, especially the set bonus of Wind Run. It only avoids the lower tiers by being one of the very few choices that rangers even have in the game.
- Wizard Hat – It is the magical counterpart of the Bard’s Tudor, as it is mainly beneficial for those who prefer to use staves. Not bad, but not necessarily best in slot either.
- Termite Armor – Thisisthe only chest piece that has no set associated with it in this tier, and it ranks somewhere around the middle due to having a very niche use case and the fact that it is light armor.

C Tier
- Black Ox Armor – This is a medium armor set that is mainly for those who like using charged attacks. Unfortunately, these aren’t particularly great in combat and you are much better off with other sets and effects.
- Fluffy Pupa Hat – This is an odd one, as it is a helmet with no associated set that is not really used for combat. Even then, its effects aren’t really essential and you can get by just fine without ever putting on one of these.
D Tier
- Moldy Matriarch Armor – It is a heavy armor set that has an extremely niche use as its effects revolve around the use of explosives. This is ranked incredibly low due to the fact that you also need the Blaster of the Moldy Matriarch to actually take full advantage of the set.
- Wasp Armor – In addition to being a light armor set, its effects and set bonus are largely useless, especially when compared to other range-centered gear.
