Some games tell you that you need to find your way own way to a destination, but then offer you only one path forward. Those are mostly reserved for linear games like God of War (both Greek and Norse saga). But open-world games also do this sort of thing, only letting you do things one way in order to prevent the game from breaking because of your creativity.
In Horizon Forbidden West, it is pretty much the same, especially in the section of the Heaven and Earth quest where you need to find a way up the cliff.
How to Find a Way Up the Cliff – Horizon Forbidden West
Before you start heading up the cliff, there is a Quen Ballista that you need to use in order to get up the cliff.
If you look closely, you can see that there are blank spaces between the ladders where you need to climb up. This is where you aim and shoot the Quen Ballista, as the ballista will shoot out spikes that allow Aloy to climb up.
Once you reach the top, you can take the opportunity to look around and explore.
While you do so, Seyka will let you know that there is a door across the chasm, but there is no way up as the ladder leading up to the door has broken down.
Seyka will then climb up the side again and will bring the Quen Ballista up so Aloy can use it to shoot another spike to help climb up to the door.
Once the Quen Ballista arrives, get on it and shoot a spike to help you and Seyka reach the door. Head on up to the door and the objective will be completed.
