You can get your hands on some truly unique (and sometimes silly) items and weapons in Star Ocean The Second Story R. Additionally, there are also creative ways of obtaining these items, having you go through multiple steps and paying attention to the environment. One such item is the Scumbag Slayer Sword.
Getting the Scumbag Slayer Sword requires a series of steps where you will be visiting multiple locations. It is also a limited time event, which means you can easily miss out on it. In this guide, we will show you exactly how to get the Scumbag Slayer, including when you get access to the event. We will also show what makes it unique. Let’s dive in!
How To Get Scumbag Slayer | Ruddle the Traveler Side Quest Guide
The process of getting the Scumbag Slayer Sword starts after you finish the Armory Contest in Lacuer City.
After this quest, make your way to the Town of Salva. The location of the Town is shown below on the Guide Map.
You will basically be starting the Ruddle the Traveler Side Quest. This is a limited time event and you will miss out on it later on. So, we recommend that you go for this quest immediately.
Specifically, you want to go to the Town Streets area of Salva.
When you reach the Town Streets, go towards the building in the North near some stairs. There you can interact and talk with Ruddle the Traveler.
He will ask you for directions towards the town of Harley. You can help him out by choosing the Go north dialogue option.
After that, make your way towards the Town of Marze shown in the Guide Map below.
Specifically, you want to go inside the Item Shop. You can directly Fast Travel here by choosing the option as shown below.
When you enter this Shop, there will be a cramped space you can explore. Towards the right, near some lamps, you will see the familiar face of Ruddle the Traveler.
He will tell you that he is lost again and needs further guidance. Choose the It’s further east of here dialogue option to get him closer to his goal.
After that, you will need to locate him in the Town of Hilton. The location is shown in the Guide Map below.
Specifically, you want to go to the Town Streets area of Hilton. You can fast travel to this location.
Once you spawn, you will see some stairs to the left. Go down these stairs and keep going left down the street.
Eventually, you will stumble upon Ruddle the Traveller. Talk to him and he will tell you that he needs your help again to reach Hilton.
Select the You just need to go by boat again dialogue option to send him on his way. Thankfully, this will be the last time that he will need your help.
Now, you need to find Ruddle the Traveler in Harley, so that you can get your reward for helping him out. The Town of Harley is shown in the Guide Map below.
Specifically, you want to go to the Town Streets area of Harley. Once you spawn there, you can make your way towards the Inn where he is staying. The location of the Inn is also marked in the map below.
There is a bit of walking that you will need to do to reach the Inn from the Town Streets. Luckily, you can see the Inn from this location. Walk up to the entrance and make your way inside.
Once you are inside the Inn, go up and then turn left into the hallway. Here, you will find Ruddle the Traveler waiting for you.
He will thank you for getting him to Harley and reward you with the Scumbag Slayer sword as a token of his appreciation.
You can equip the Scumbag Slayer from your Inventory. The unique Effect of this Sword is quite literally in the name.
You can use this Sword to instantly kill any enemies that have the word ‘scum’ in their name. A great Weapon to have, especially if you face such a mob of enemies.
They stand no chance, and you will be able to clear them out with ease.
