With The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria finally being released, players are discovering the many wonders that you can encounter within the iconic mines. Among them is the Great Furnace of Narvi, which you’ll have to repair as a part of one of the game’s story quests. So, how exactly can you fix it?

How to Light & Fix the Great Furnace of Narvi

Before we get to the actual steps, you should keep in mind that the game features a procedurally-generated map. This means that no two playthroughs will be the same.

Because of that, we can’t provide you with the exact locations of certain objects in the world. But in this case, it shouldn’t be too hard to find what you need.

First of all, you should take the Replacement Pipe that can typically be found near the entrance to the furnace. It looks like a large cylinder made of metal. It should be hard to miss as it is as big as your character.

Leave this somewhere close to the furnace for now, as you need to grab and fix two more items that are much more straightforward than this one.

You will find the Replacement Crank somewhere on the floor close to where it should be attached. It’s typically beside the stairs to the right of the machinery.

Once you find it, just bring it over to the missing part outline and replace it.

Next, on the opposite side of the room from where you found the crank, there should be a Replacement Gear propped up on a wall. Take this and start making your way up the stairs beside it.

At the top, you should see a large gear-shaped outline indicating where the replacement should go.

Simply walk up to it while holding the replacement gear. Then, press the E button to attach the missing part.

Now that the first two parts are fixed, go back and grab the replacement pipe that you left to the side earlier.

With the pipe on hand, make your way up the stairs on the other side of the room, opposite of where you placed the gear earlier.

You’ll notice that the stairs on this side are broken. And you can’t climb up while holding the pipe. Luckily, if you press the R button on your keyboard, this will allow you to throw items a fair distance away.

So, with the pipe in hand, throw it at the platform under the outline where it’s supposed to go. Afterwards, quickly jump after it before it falls just in case it starts rolling back down.

Alternatively, you could jump on a platform under the broken stairs. Then, grab the pipe from the top at the right angle. Repeat this step on the stairs and just carry it up normally.

Once you’ve fixed the pipe and activated the furnace, prepare for a fight. The forge, although it will reward you with some new recipes, will also alert a horde, and orcs will start to swarm you in the area.
