Everyone has their own dark secrets that they prefer to keep hidden from the world. For Kratos, it’s that he is a former Greek God that slaughtered the entire Greek Pantheon, all because he wanted to kill Zeus. Mimir has his own secrets, like how he tricked the dwarves of Svartalfheim to help mine their resources and give them to Odin, only to be chained to a tree, never to be freed until Kratos came along. Mimir regrets his decisions, so he does his best to make it up to them, by shutting down the mining rig.
God of War Ragnarok – How to Shut Down the Althjof’s Mining Rig
Bear in mind that you can do this quest whenever you want, even after you beat the game. Here’s how to shut down the Althjof’s mining rig in Ragnarok:
Step 1: Take the boat to Althjof’s Rig
After leaving the dwarven village, you will come across a large lake with multiple mining rigs, all due to Mimir’s lies and deceit. He asks you to take them down. You can start with any of the mining rigs on the map, but we will focus on Althjof’s Rig, which is on the west side of the lake.
Step 2: Make your way to the top of the rig
When you dock your boat, you will have to make your way to the chimney, which is where you can stop the mining rig. First, use the wheel and bring the hook down. This will let you swing later.
After getting the hook down, go to the elevator lift and use your Blades of Chaos to bring the lift down, letting you jump across and use the hook to swing to the other platform. There will be a red barrel next to a wooden barricade, so use your Blades of Chaos to detonate the barrel.
Go to this wall and climb up.
You see this thing on the edge? Kick it down. This will let you go back up to the area you were before by using your Blades of Chaos to swing yourself back up, instead of going the long way back. After doing that, turn back around and open the gate to continue.
There will be another red barrel next to a wooden barricade. Use your Blades of Chaos again and detonate it. You will then have to climb up and around to get to another platform.
Look down over the edge and you will see a cracked ground. Press Circle and you will jump up and bash the ground with your body, which leads you to a level below. There will be some enemies here, so take care of them.
After defeating the enemies, you will see this interactable. Press Circle and you will bring the lift back up, letting you swing to the chimney area. But first, you need to go back to the wheel and move the hook upwards. After getting the hook up, swing up to the chimney area.
After getting to the chimney area, you will fight a horde of enemies. Take them out and you will be able to stop the mining rig by throwing in the Leviathan Axe to freeze the flames, effectively stopping the rig.
