Islands of Insight made its official debut on Steam just a few days ago, and players are feasting on this puzzle buffet. Here, you can play as a Seeker in this large-scale puzzle adventure and interact with friends, do daily quests, and become the master of puzzles. With the complexity of some of these puzzles, some players might want to know if this Islands of Insight can be played with a controller and I’m here to give you an answer.
Can Islands of Insight Be Played With A Controller?
I’ll keep it short and sweet, the answer is No. At least not without a bit of work. While most games on Steam have full controller support, Islands of Insight only supports controllers partially. Unfortunately, even then, not very well.
If you’re disappointed by this, we understand. A lot of players were interested in Islands of Insight due to the controller support during the game’s demo release.
Unfortunately, with the full version of the game, some players haven’t had any success with controller support at all. So, any information in this guide will be anecdotal. Given that, I hope that this works for you.
Steam Controller Settings
To get the controller to work with Islands of Insight, you’ll have to configure the key binding yourself in Steam settings.
To do this, follow the steps below:
- Launch Steam in Big Picture Mode.
- Open Settings in the top right corner of the screen.
- Under the Controller drop-down, select Controller settings.
- Turn on your controller and look for it in the Detected Controllers list.
- Choose your preferences and submit.
- Launch Islands of Insight and enjoy!
If this ends up working for you, you’ll notice that the key-binding won’t be completely accurate. Over time, you should be able to get used to the button assignments that Steam assigns. You can also continue to fiddle with the key binding settings until you end up with a configuration you can work with.
It’s also important to note that there is no fine tune for walking if you choose to use a controller. This means that you’re either going to be at a full jog or not at all for the duration of your play through.
That’s all we know about whether or not you can play Islands of Insight with a controller. Hopefully, the developers can fix this issue in a future patch.
