JoJo and fighting games fans rejoice, as we have a new JoJo fighting game called JoJo All Star Battle R. Featuring many popular characters from the JoJo universe such as Jotaro Kujo, Jonathan Joestar, Joseph Joestar, Jolyne Cujoh, and of course, the man himself, Dio Brando. There are so many characters to choose from, trying them all will take you hours out of your day. However, you have to know how to play first. Specifically, combos. Combos are crucial in any fighting game, so knowing how to combo is the first step.
How To Combo – JoJo All Star Battle R
You have three main attacks: light, medium, and heavy. Each attack deals different damages and can initiate a combo. Knowing how to combo though is a whole different ball game. Spamming different attack buttons until you perform an attack combo is usually a go-to for casual players, but if you plan on sinking a lot of time into this game, then best to avoid that.
Just like in Dragon Ball FighterZ, you can auto combo by pressing the light attack button repeatedly. However, it’s always recommended not to depend too much into it. Seasoned fighting gamer players can easily read your button input and counter you. Only use auto combo when you’re able to stun lock your opponent.
Take note that your attacks also have different versions of them. You can crouch down and perform light, medium, or heavy attacks. Or, you can perform jump attacks with light, medium, and heavy attacks.
Now that you know the basic attacks, you can proceed to use them to perform combos. Such as light, medium, crouch heavy. Jumping medium, light, medium, heavy. There are so many combos you can perform that can dwindle your opponent’s health, but timing is also important.
Another way to extend your combo is using the Style button. Now, the Style button is essentially a moveset switch for different characters. For Stand users like Jotaro, he will activate his Stand to help him throw more combos at his opponents.
You can use your Style button to extend combos mid combo. For example, you perform light, medium, heavy, then turn on Style and perform light, medium, heavy again. Keep in mind that this only applies to Stand users. Other characters might function differently, so it’s important to try out each characters Style’s before going into an actual match.
Next up are skills. Now, skills are incredibly useful to end combos. These skills deal a lot of damage, but they do drain meter, so it’s advised not to use them a lot and have a little bit of meter available. You also have your HHA and GHA, which are essentially your ultimates. Just like the skills, they can be used to end combos with a large bang.
Another thing to use during combos are assists. Like in FighterZ, the right assist can make your combos become more devastating. Don’t choose the assist just because it’s your favorite character. Choose the assist that best suit your combo and play style.
