Pet World: Complete Beginner’s Guide (Catching Secrets & More)

Here’s everything you need to know to start your journey in Pet World!

As soon as you spawn in the Starting Area in Pet World, you’ll find yourself by the leaderboards, with a quest prompt guiding you through your initial steps—like breaking your first few coins, purchasing your first egg, and unlocking new areas. But there’s so much more to discover beyond the basics! Whether you’re a curious newcomer or a seasoned player looking to sharpen your skills, my guide is your ticket to mastering the game.

Complete Beginner’s Guide (Catching Secrets & More)

From mastering essential gameplay mechanics to discovering secrets that will improve your experience, I got you covered. I’ll walk you through the fundamental steps to enhance your gameplay, including tips on pet hatching, resource gathering, and unlocking exclusive content. Feel free to use the Table of Contents below for navigation.

Seasonal Events & Currency

Before you dive in, make sure to check for any active Events. Right now, it’s the Halloween event! The pets you can obtain from this event are currently the strongest in the game. Unlike regular gameplay, where you collect coins and stars, the Halloween event uses a different currency: Candy Corn.

At the beginning, your Overworld pets won’t provide any multipliers, so your best bet is to break piles of candy corn or trick-or-treat at houses. Once you collect enough Candy Corn, hatch your first Egg. With your new pet, you’ll start earning multipliers for the event currency.

Later in the guide, I’ll share tips on how to set up your team to maximize your gains during Events. However, for the most part, you’ll find yourself farming in the Overworld.

Robux Tokens & Free Game Passes

Now, let’s talk about a unique feature of this game: Robux Tokens. These tokens allow you to purchase exclusive game passes and bundles in the shop. You earn one Robux Token for every 10 minutes you spend in-game, which adds up to a maximum of 144 tokens every 24 hours. This means that even if you’re a free-to-play player like me, you can eventually acquire every game pass by grinding!

A common question I see is: “What should you buy first with the tokens?” I used to recommend the Autofarm Pass, but now it’s completely free! Just hit ‘H’ to activate Autofarm, and your pet will automatically farm the entire area, making it totally AFK-friendly.

With the autofarm feature available to everyone, I recommend focusing on either the Global Magnet pass, which allows you to collect items from a distance, or the Season Pass.

Season 2 just started, and purchasing the Premium Pass unlocks an entire track of rewards, including Exclusive Eggs. The real value here is that with the Premium Pass, you can reset it infinitely upon completion, allowing for unlimited exclusive egg farming.

Gameplay Basics & Mechanics

Now, let’s cover the basic Gameplay Mechanics. You’ll want to hatch eggs to build your pet collection. The goal is to gather enough gold to unlock better eggs and advance to the next area. One quick tip is to ask other players if they have extra pets they’re willing to share. Just remember to be polite—begging is a surefire way to get blocked!

Next up, let’s explore some unique game mechanics, starting with the Merchant in the first area. You can trade in your Shards for Potions, which are incredibly useful—make sure to buy them whenever you can! Additionally, the Merchant sometimes offers the Red Dragon pet, which is always 90% as effective as your best pet.

I’ll talk deeper into team setup and building below, but keep in mind that the Red Dragon is a fantastic early-game pet.

Secret Chests Locations

Next up, let’s discuss Secret Chests. Throughout the maps of Pet World, hidden chests can be found in various locations. You can only open each chest once, but they provide substantial rewards, including potions, shards, spin tickets, and even Robux tokens.

I’ll show you all the locations right now.

The first chest is located in the initial area, right as you spawn. On your first attempt, you might see a message saying it’s locked or that no one’s home. Just keep spamming the “E” key and accept whatever message pops up, like “It’s locked” or “No one’s home.” Eventually, it will unlock, and you can head inside. Go upstairs to find the chest.

There are actually two chests in the Starting Area. The second one is hidden behind a waterfall, along with a secret shrine, which I’ll also discuss below.

Unfortunately, there are no chests in the next area, but you’ll find the Wizard Tower, where you can craft potions. The tower can be a bit out of the way, but if you have the Instant Craft pass, it simplifies the process.

The next chest can be found in the Tropical Seaside area, typically hidden behind one of the islands. It could be this island or one further back, so check each one until you find it.

The following chest is in the Frosty Isles; just follow the right path to the bridge and enter the lodge—there will be a chest on the ground in front of you.

Unfortunately, the Crazy Carnival doesn’t have a chest, but as soon as you enter the Fire Area from the carnival, you’ll find a chest in front of a statue on the right side.

The final chest, for now (more will be added in future updates), is located in the back of the Golden Caverns.

Shrines Locations

Now, let’s talk about the Shrines. Every area in Petworld has a shrine, and all you need to do is approach it and press “E.” Once unlocked, Shrines provide permanent boosts to luck, gold, and star collection.

I strongly recommend unlocking them as soon as you can, as permanent buffs significantly enhance your gameplay.

The first shrine is located in the Mystic Woods, while another can be found right at the entrance of the Tropical Seaside. The Frosty Isles and Carnival also feature shrines. You can find the next one in the Crystalline Cavern and another towards the back of the Golden Cave, just before the bridge.

The final shrine is hidden behind the same waterfall I discussed earlier in the first area. This shrine used to be the most expensive, but now the one in the Golden Cave holds that title. Make sure to unlock all the shrines as quickly as possible; they greatly aid in scaling up your multipliers.

Upgrades

Moving on to upgrades: head to the Frosty Isles and follow the left path to find the Upgrade Altar. I highly recommend grabbing any you can afford. These upgrades are incredibly powerful and key to making the game more free-to-play friendly. They are the best way to enhance your multipliers and improve your egg-hatching abilities!

Free Exclusive Eggs & Best Way To Farm Them

One of the coolest features in Petworld is the chance to find free eggs while farming in different areas. When one of your pets breaks an egg, you can hatch it without spending any coins. I always recommend checking for any eggs lying around as you enter a new area, so you don’t have to use your hard-earned coins to buy the next egg.

In addition to the regular eggs, there are Exclusive ones that can appear while you’re farming. When you’re in the Overworld, you have a chance to discover Global Eggs. These pets have percentage-based stats, similar to the Red Dragon mentioned earlier in the guide.

For instance, the least powerful pet from the Global Egg is the Global Doggy, which is only 40% as good as your best pet. You might also hatch secret pets from these eggs, and even acquiring one of the Epic pets can help you catch up to the new areas. So, keep an eye out for Exclusive eggs!

How To Farm Infinite Exclusive Eggs

Farming with the premium pass is one of the best strategies to obtain Exclusive Pets. At the end of the free and premium reward track, you can unlock pets with 80% and 95% stats.

To reach level 40, complete quests, and the best area to farm these quests is in the Tropical area with the Sand Castle Eggs. These eggs have a balanced distribution of rarity chances, making them ideal for hatching.

Your main quest will involve hatching Basic, Rare, Epic, and Godly pets. The Sand Castle Eggs make it easy to acquire a variety of pets due to their lower godly requirements. Just activate your auto-farm and AFK hatch these eggs overnight, allowing you to max out your pass in a single day.

How To Build The Best Team in Pet World

Now, I’ll discuss how to assemble a powerful team to progress through the game efficiently. Your main goal should be to collect a team made up entirely of Exclusive pets, as they provide percentage-based stats.

For example, when I equip my best pets, I can see they have high percentages—130%, 105%, and 95%—compared to a single pet with base stats.

This setup is incredibly effective for progressing through new areas because you only need to hatch one strong pet, and the rest of your team will benefit from its stats. Instead of needing to hatch multiple low-tier pets, you can focus on acquiring just one solid pet, and your team will be set.

If you don’t have any Exclusive pets, I recommend prioritizing the Red Dragon first, as it’s the easiest high-percentage pet to obtain. You can also hatch any Exclusive eggs you discover and take advantage of Event pets, which are often straightforward to acquire. For instance, pets like the Evil Eyes and the Grim Reaper (with 95% stats) can be obtained within 30 minutes during an event.

If you find yourself without any Exclusive pets, keep grinding to unlock the highest tier eggs available to you. When you’re in the Tropical Island, look out for Tropical Eggs that spawn on the ground, allowing you to snag some free hatches.

Spin Tickets

Now, let’s talk about Spin Tickets. As you complete quests in the Premium Pass, you’ll earn these tickets, which can be used at the Carnival. Follow the path to the right to find the large tent in the back. You’ll eventually see the Spinning Wheel; simply hit “E” to spin. This is a great way to acquire potions, and you might even get lucky with two tickets back, allowing you to keep spinning.

There’s also a slight chance of winning four Robux tokens, which can help you unlock game passes faster. The grand prize is a Secret Pet from the Spinning Wheel. This pet is extremely rare but has a power level of 125% compared to your best pet, making it a strong addition to any team.

Ores and The Crystal Merchant

As you progress through the map and reach the Crystalline Caverns, you’ll start noticing Ores spawning around the area. Unlike coin piles, breaking ores doesn’t always yield gold or stars; instead, you might collect different ores like Jade. You can exchange these ores at the Crystal Merchant, located to the left as you enter the area.

The Crystal Merchant will trade your ores for a substantial amount of coins and stars. With the new Golden Cave area, you can quickly accumulate ores, as this zone is filled with them—no coin or star piles here! Simply gather your ores and return to the Merchant for big rewards!

Potions

As you saw above with the Spinning Wheel in the Premium Pass, you can acquire potions in several ways. You can craft them at the Wizard Tower or purchase them from the Merchant in the first area.

These potions provide percentage boosts to various stats. For example, one potion increases your luck by 40% for 10 minutes, while another grants your pets double damage and increases Stars and coins experience. The Super Potion is particularly powerful, offering both a Coins boost and a Stars boost, along with an additional 20% luck increase.

Why are Potions so important? Because they enhance your Ore collection! By using our super potion, Stars potion, and coins potion before exchanging, you’ll notice a significant increase in the offers—often more than double!

Recommendation: Save up a large amount of ore from the Golden Cave, and when you’re ready to cash in, activate your potions first. This strategy will maximize your base currency gains.

How To Get Secret Pets

For many players, the most exciting aspect of the game is hunting for the extremely rare Secret Pets. Not only are they incredibly powerful, but they also have some of the most striking designs.

Your primary source for obtaining secret pets is through Exclusive Eggs, which can be found on the ground or acquired via the Premium Pass. Additionally, any egg can potentially contain secret pets. If you look above an egg, it will indicate if it includes a secret pet or a Superstar pet.

Speaking of rarity, Superstar pets are exceptionally hard to find. For instance, during the new Halloween event, the rarest secret from the Pumpkin Egg has a 1 in 20 million chance of being hatched—over 10 times rarer than typical secret pets! Superstar pets can give you 200% of your best pet’s stats, making them incredibly valuable.

  • Tip for Hatching Secrets: Invest in game passes like Secret Hunter, which significantly boosts your chances of obtaining secret pets. I’ve managed to acquire these perks while playing free-to-play; it just requires some grinding. Additionally, focus on upgrading in the Winter area to improve your egg hatching speed and luck.
  • Collecting Tips: On the first day of the Halloween event, I managed to hatch the Enraged Darkness. Remember that secret pets come with serial numbers, indicating how many existed when you hatched them. For example, I got serial number 274, meaning only 273 existed before mine. Collectors often seek low serial numbers, as these can hold immense trade value in the ISAK Studios Discord.

My Final Tip for You!

Consider creating alt accounts! In many Pet Simulator games, running multiple accounts simultaneously can be incredibly beneficial. While it’s not essential, if you want to excel in this game, having additional accounts can boost your farming efficiency. There are plenty of guides available on setting up alt accounts, but be aware that it may require you a good PC to manage multiple accounts overnight.
