Remnant 2 has launched the Awakened King DLC bringing in a variety of new content to the game. There is a new map that provides players with a brand-new campaign and different adventures that they can partake in. Additionally, the DLC also comes with secrets that players can find, some of which are items that provide some interesting and useful stat boosts.
Probably one of the biggest secrets is the Anguish Weapon. The method for obtaining this secret weapon is incredibly elaborate and difficult. Some fans even believe that this weapon ties into the overall lore of the game, but that remains to be seen. Nonetheless, in this guide, we will show you how you can get the Anguish Secret Weapon for yourself in the new DLC. Let’s dive in.
How to Get Anguish Secret Weapon
The process of obtaining the Anguish Secret Weapon is incredibly elaborate with an extensive amount of steps.
You will be Rerolling quite a few Adventures, switching to Campaign Mode and practically visiting every area in the game. We highly recommend the Survivor Difficulty for these steps which are:
- Play a post-DLC campaign until you reach the Root Earth area. If you finished the Campaign or reached this area before the DLC launch, the steps will not work.
- Reroll the Losomn Adventure until you get the Ethereal Manor Event. Locate the event near the burning village areas.
- Talk to Dran in the Manor and let him grab you. He will take you to another realm in the Ethereal Manor.
- Use the Liquid Escape item to escape the Ethereal Manor.
- Use the Checkpoint here to return to Ward 13. Look for Dran here and interact with him.
- Reroll a Yaesha Adventure and go to The Red Throne. Locate Dran here and talk to him.
- Switch to Campaign Mode and look for Dran in the Labyrinth.
- Reroll a N’erud Adventure and spawn at the Forgotten Prison area. Talk to Dran here.
- Switch to Campaign Mode again and talk to Dran at the Ashen Wasteland in Root Earth.
- Reroll a Losomn Adventure and spawn at the Morrow Parish. Progress this adventure until you reach the Tormented Asylum.
- Talk to Dran again and this time he will give you the Dran’s Dream Consumable. Use it to get to the Forgotten Null.
- Pick up the Occult Vessel material in the Forgotten Null.
- Return to Ward 13 and talk to McCabe. Select the Crafting option to open up the menu.
- Craft the Anguish Handgun using the Occult Vessel and additional material.

NOTE: This guide continues with a detailed walkthrough below!
Detailed Walkthrough
The first thing that you need to do is start a post-DLC campaign. This means a campaign that has been launched after the new Awakened King DLC came out.
That means you will need to start the campaign all over again. Do this until you reach the Root Earth area in your run.
Once you have reached this point, you need to Reroll a Losomn Adventure until you obtain the Ethereal Manor Event.
After that, you need to go through the Adventure until you find the Ethereal Manor area. Note that it is possible that you may miss out on the event which means you will need to Reroll and look for it again. The Ethereal Manor can be found on the map in the following general area.
You can recognize the Ethereal Manor by the gate that is shown below. After you find it, enter inside and make your way up the stairs.
There is an NPC by the name of Dran that you are looking for to kickstart the Ethereal Manor Event.
He will be sitting on a chair inside the Manor. Approach and interact with him. He will grab you and teleport you to another version of the Ethereal Manor.
After you have been teleported, you will need to escape the area. This is where you need to use the Liquid Escape item that you obtain at the start of the game. Doing so will allow you to escape the Ethereal Manor area.
After you use Liquid Death, you will reach the Consecrated Throne area. Here, you need to approach the nearby Checkpoint. Interact with it to return to Ward 13.
NOTE: From this point onwards, you must ensure that you do not die. Otherwise, you will need to repeat the steps again starting from Step #2.
It is highly recommended that you set the difficulty to Survivor when Rerolling Adventures.
When you are in Ward 13, you will need to look for the Dran NPC again. Look around the area and you should be able to find him in a corner. Approach him and he will grab you again before disappearing.
After this, you need to go to the Ward 13 crystal and Reroll a Yaesha Adventure. After that, fast travel to The Red Throne area as this is the only Checkpoint in this area.
When you spawn at The Red Throne, look around for the Dran NPC again. You can use The Red Throne entrance as a guide to locate Dran.
We have shown a map below so that you can get a general idea of how far he can be. It is not accurate since the areas are procedurally generated.
You should be able to find him in a corner standing against a wall. Approach him and let him grab you. He will disappear again.
After this, you will need to return to Ward 13. However, this time, instead of Rerolling, you will need to Switch to the Campaign Mode in your World Settings.
Once that is done, select the Labyrinth area of the map. In the Labyrinth, select the Fractured Ingress to fast travel to it.
Explore the Labyrinth until you find Dran. he will be overlooking the entire map from a high viewpoint. Talk to him and yet again he will grab you, before disappearing.
Now, you will need to return to the Ward 13 area and reroll yet another adventure. This time you will be Rerolling a N’erud Adventure.
Once you have Rerolled it, select the area and fast travel to the Forgotten Prison. It will be the only checkpoint in this area.
You will need to go through the main dungeon here until you reach the Forgotten Prison area using The Eon Vault entrance. After that, make your way towards the checkpoint in this area.
You can find Dran near the checkpoint in the Forgotten Prison. Talk to him and, as expected, he will grab you before disappearing. Tired of the disappearing act, yet? Well, it certainly is not over yet.
After this, you will need to Switch to Campaign Mode again using the World Settings menu in Ward 13. Once that’s done, fast travel to the Ashen Wasteland by selecting the Root Earth area.
After you arrive at the Ashen Wasteland, explore the area to locate Dran again. He will be standing near a fence, waiting for you to interact with him and disappear.
Don’t worry, you will now need to locate him one more time before the pattern changes.
Now, you need to Reroll the Losomn Adventure. After that, select this same area and fast travel to Morrow Parish. It is the only checkpoint in the Losomn area.
Progress through this Adventure until you reach The Tormented Asylum, the map for which is shown below.
This area is fairly small and cramped and you can locate Dran here pretty easily. He will be in a corner. Talk to him and he will disappear.
However, this time, he will actually grant you a reward. This is the Dran’s Dream Consumable that you can assign to your hotkey.
Once you have it assigned, use it and your character will throw it to the ground. After that, you will be teleported to the Forgotten Null.
Inside the Forgotten Null, look for a rock outcropping on the edge of the coast. There will be a corpse here alongside an item that is glowing purple.
Approach this item and you will notice that it is the Occult Vessel. Pick it up and it will be placed in your inventory as a Material.
After picking up the Occult Vessel, return to Ward 13. Here, look for the McCabe NPC. She will be quite close to the red crystal. Interact with her and select the Crafting option.
This will open up the Gear and Mod Crafting Menu. There are a variety of weapons that you can craft here.
Select the Anguish Headgun and you will be able to craft it using the Occult Vessel Material, along with Lumenite Crystal and Scrap.
The Anguish Handgun has the following main feature:
- Loath The Weak – Rapidly fires volatile needles that explode after 1.5s dealing 30 Explosive Damage.
And that is how you get the Secret Anguish Handgun in the Awakened King DLC for Remnant 2. As you can see, the process for getting this Weapon is incredibly elaborate requiring you to go through numerous objectives. It can also get quite tedious which is why we recommend the Survivor difficulty. Doing so will reduce the chances of you dying and having to go through this all over again!
