In RUST, the main goal is to survive for as long as you can. You can do this by gathering all the necessary items to aid your survival. As you progress, there are many items that you’ll want to craft using the Scrap item. This is an item that is essential for many crafting recipes in the game. In this guide, we’ll show you how to get Srap fast.

How To Get Scrap Fast Guide

This Guide will provide you with basic information about the Scrap item as well as some methods for you to obtain them. Keep in mind that this guide will focus more on the safer methods with less risk.

In the end, you’ll want to be able to survive and bring all the loot home safely. Once you are stronger, you can consider doing the harder methods for a higher number of scrap gains.

Many methods require you to go outside, meaning that you cannot craft items while you’re gone. If you need to craft items automatically, consider taking a look at the guide.

Scrap Basic Information

Scrap is one of the most used items and is almost a currency. It is an item important in researching, crafting, and repairing. The item is also used to make the Salvaged Hammer.

The Scrap is a currency you can use to purchase weapons, tools, armor as well as many other valuable items from the Bandit Camp and the Outpost Weapon Shop. If you put items in the Recycler, you will receive the following number of Scraps:

Roads

On the Roads, you can easily find Sign Posts just like the image below. Upon breaking these items, you will be able to collect Metal Pipes.

When you put these items in the Recycler, you will be able to obtain up to 5 Scraps. This is a safe way for you to collect Scraps without running into other players.

As you walk, there are also many other items that you can break and collect to recycle for scrap. There is also a chance you can run into crates that give amazing loot.

T0 Monuments

Another way for you to collect Scrap is by exploring T0 Monuments. These are usually less contested locations where you can gather and open crates easily.

Usually, there are three different locations you can go to, which are the Mining Outpost, Oxum’s Gas Station, and Abandoned Supermarket.

They are great ways for you to gain some quick progress by collecting some crates and recycling them for extra Scrap. However, do not build your main bases here since there are many players that visit these areas very often.

If you are looking for a high-risk, high-reward method, consider going to the Missile Silo Monument. Even though it is more dangerous, the loot is extremely worth it if you manage to get them!

Killing Tunnel Dwellers

If you are further in your progress, you can also consider killing Tunnel Dwellers. These enemies can drop you some Scrap that you can collect along the way.

Keep in mind that the area can be dark and these Dwellers can attack you. If you are not equipped with the equipment you need, avoid this area early on.

Horse Dung

This is a method that many players do and is completely risk-free, which is collecting Horse Dung. You can then turn these items into Composts which you can trade at the Bandit Camps for Scrap.

As long as you pick up the plants and feed the horses, this is a great passive income method for you to gather scrap. When you’re offline, or away from your base, the horses are always digesting the food and creating Horse Dung.

In the image down below, you’ll be able to see how many scraps you can get by selling Compost. With 2 Composts, you will receive 3 Scraps.

Underwater

The last place you can find Scrap is by exploring the ocean area. Before you do this, you will want to get yourself a boat or a kayak as well as Diving Equipment (Diving Tank, Mask & Fin). You can get these items from a Fishing Village.

As you swim around the ocean, you will be able to find floating scraps that you can collect. This is a risk-free method since there aren’t so many people in the ocean all the time. It it less likely that you will ever run into one of the hostile players.

RUST Boat

If you are later in your progress with better gear and equipment, consider going into an Underwater Lab. These are locations with one of the best components that you can collect.

Sometimes, players also create traps and camp in these locations to wait for someone to fall for them. If you are not careful, you can also be the victim and lose everything you’ve gathered.

This is a high-risk, high-reward that you’ll also want to consider. Depending on your personal preferences, there are many options you can go for.

Those are some of the ways you can collect Scrap fast in Rust. These are great methods that you can use to collect scraps safely in the game. When you have the equipment you need to protect yourself, you can go for harder methods.

There are also many starting strategies you can try in Rust. Even though there are many methods you can do, you’ll ideally want to go for the least contested method. Depending on what people in your server do, you’ll want to go for the best ones to maximize your profit.

Once you have the Scrap or the loot, make sure you protect them carefully. Having a good base design with defensive mechanisms is very important. If you do not know how to build a good base yet, consider taking a look at this Base Defense Guide!
