Difficulty in games have been a long-debated topic for a long time. From games that let you tailor your experience with difficulty options, to games that have one set difficulty. Starfield is one of the games that fall to the former as you can pick what Difficulty level you want. So, what are the differences between the difficulty levels in the game? What should you choose?

In this guide, we’ll show you how to set or change your Difficulty level in the game. We’ll also show you what the differences are and what you should pick. Now, let’s see what the whole difficulty level is in the game.

Difficulty Level Guide: Which One to Choose & How to Change It?

To set the Difficulty level in the game, you can go to the main menu and go to Settings. Once you’re there, you can pick Gameplay and the first option there is the Difficulty Level. There are 5 difficulty levels in total which are: Very Easy, Easy, Normal, Hard and Very Hard.

Unlike old Bethesda titles, the newer games like Starfield doesn’t change the XP amount based on difficulty.

That’s mainly because you can change your difficulty at any time by going to the same menu while in a game. This stops exploits like changing the difficulty to the highest before you kill strong enemies.

Starfield Difficulty Options

What the difficulty changes is the amount of damage you do to enemies and the amount of damage they do to you. In Very Easy, you deal double damage to enemies while taking minimal damage.

In Very Hard, enemies deal triple damage to you and your damage output is lowered tremendously. For those who want a more challenging experience, you can go for the higher difficulty settings.

Remember that the higher the difficulty in the game, the increased chances of legendary enemies to spawn. So, if you want to get the best gear as much as possible, then you’ll want to go increase the difficulty!

That’s how you change your difficulty in Starfield and what are the differences between the levels. Now go out there and set the right difficulty for your play style! Make sure to go check out our guide on the bar location in Gargarin Landing if you haven’t already!
