Starfield – How to Move Resources from Outpost to Ship

In Starfield, players are given the ability to create outposts in order to passively gather resources and have a place that they can decorate and store all sorts of items in. With that in mind, you’re probably wondering if there’s an easier way to transport materials from your outposts. In this guide, we’ll be teaching you how to quickly store them into your ship without having to manually carry them over to your cargo hold.

How to Move Resources from Outpost to Ship

The first step is to make sure that your resource extractors are powered up and are connected to the appropriate storage units. To do this, create an output link from the former into the latter by opening the outpost building mode and pressing Mouse 2 or Right Trigger on a controller.

After confirming that your extractors are sending resources over to your storage unit, the latter should then be connected to a transfer container. Building one will cost you 8 iron, 5 tungsten, and 4 lubricant.

This will allow you to transfer resources directly to any ship that you land within the outpost. Take note that you can directly link your extractors over to the transfer container.

But it does not have a very high mass limit, so having storage units is highly recommended if you plan on leaving it on for long periods of time.

Creating Space for Your Ship

The next step is to ensure that your ship can land within your outpost. To do this, you will need to construct a small landing pad, which will cost you 20 iron and 8 aluminum.

Ships that are larger than 40 meters will require the version with a shipbuilder, though this will require significantly more resources and space to build.

Once your ship is inside your outpost, go inside and check your cargo hold. From there, simply press “Q” or the Left Bumper a few times until it shows your outpost’s name in the menu.

If you followed the previous steps correctly, you should be able to see the contents of your transfer container here, and you’ll be able to send all of these resources into your ship with a single press of the “T” button or the Right Bumper.

And that’s how you transfer resources from your outpost directly to your ship! An added tip before you go is that you should also consider increasing your ship’s cargo space, since stocking up on resources this way can quickly fill up your vessel, especially if you’re not using or selling them any time soon.
