Infiltrating the Infinity LTD building is no easy feat. Especially when you are given a long list of chores that involve hacking, slashing, and stealthing. This is why it is really important to choose and plan the route you are going to take in order to complete the whole questline.
Although there are many layers to the Sabotage mission in Starfield, the one that gets most people scratching their head for a solution is getting into the Research & Development section of Infinity LTD.
So how do you get into R&D? Can you even complete this mission undetected? What if you want to go in guns blazing? Here’s the answer to all those questions.
Finding a Way Into Research & Development
First off, you are going to have to make your way to Lucas’ office. There are many ways to reach this location, but here’s one you can try:
Use the elevator and select “Roof Access”. Upon arriving at the location, turn to your right and open the vent.
You’ll come across this big industrial fan. You will need to manipulate the security as shown in the image below to turn it off for you. Simply jumping down will most likely damage or kill you.
After jumping down successfully, head towards the corridor and turn left. You will then come across the “Maintenance Systems” and sabotage the Heating System as an optional part of the quest.
Now, turn around and you’ll see this vent here. Open it and proceed to go that way.
Jump down on the platform (not on the ground). Then, look for this vent as shown in the image below.
Head straight the vent and jump down. After that, scan the area and look for a similar vent. You’ll have to go through it as well.
Head straight and you’ll come across this area as shown in the image below. There’s security here, so you might want to get rid of it first. Then, head towards this vent as shown in the image below. Open the hatch and this will lead you to a comfort room.
Now, there’s lots of guards in the next area so I suggest you equip strong armor. Go outside and look around for stairs that lead to the next level as shown in the image below.
Once more, look for stairs that lead to the next level. From there, you will see the indicator for Lucas’ office. Run the program on the computer as part of the quest.
Once there, take a left turn (if facing towards Lucas’ computer) towards the stairs and go down.
Next, you’ll cross the guard on the stairs, look for a platform to your left. Jump on it from the stairs and make your way to the vent right in front of you.
Enter the vent, it should take you to an elevator shaft. Make your way down the elevator shaft (be very careful here as you can very easily fall to your death).
Going down, you’ll see another vent right below the one you just entered. Jump down onto the small platform in front of this vent and climb out.
After exiting the vent, turn left and keep heading straight down the hallway until you reach an opening. Congrats! You’ve made it to Research & Development. Make sure to crouch and try to stay hidden as you are now trespassing and will be shot on sight by Infinity LTD guards.
Should You Enter Guns Blazing, Hidden, or In Plain Sight?
You can make your way into Infinity LTD and complete the quest three different ways, which are going in guns blazing, trespassing through the rooftop, or getting an appointment and going through the front door. Each of these options have been explained below.
Guns Blazing
The first option might seem like a joke, but it is a viable option for players who are playing the game on lower difficulties. This method will save you a lot of time, as you can just run straight towards the objectives and ignore the guards (as they do little to no damage on low difficulty).
Through the Roof Access
The second option allows you to get access to the building through the rooftop access. Even though this might seem like the correct option, I would not recommend this to players who don’t want to waste a lot of time trying to hide from the guards (even on lower difficulties).
Through the Front Door
Lastly, you can get an appointment and walk straight through the front door. This way not only will you be able to roam around some sections of the building without any repercussions, but can also make it to Lucas’ office within minutes.
So there you have it! You’ve successfully made your way to the R&D and can now complete the quest with ease.
