How to Unlock New Weapons
To get a weapon, Team Fortress 2 has several ways that allow you to try out new weapons. If you’ve played the game for a bit, you are familiar with some of these methods. We’re going to list some of the methods and how to make the best out of them.
Item Drop System (Weekly Limited)
The easiest method is perhaps relying on the Drop Item system where an item is gifted for every playtime milestone you reach. But there’s a limit to the items you can gain and once you reach the cap, you cannot get more. They can be weapons, Mann Co. Store, cosmetic items, and tools.
On the other hand, it does require a lot of hours to reach, so what you can do is to leave your character on idle in an idle server.
Make sure they’re idle servers and setup an auto-clicker so the server doesn’t accidentally think you’re AFK. You can access the Console to pick which server you want to access.
Achievements
The achievements in the game will give you a better weapon with every milestone. Each class has 3 Milestone Achievements and there are special promotional items from Steam Achievements from other games.
The Steam Achievement Manager will allow you to tweak your achievements so you can get them soon or remove them so you can get them again.
On top of that, there are Achievement Servers where you can do commands to give you achievements. Simply search for the latest legit server as these servers don’t last forever and use the command. You can access the Console to pick which server you want to access.
Crafting
Another certain method to get a weapon is via crafting, by following the blueprint exactly. You can craft all 156 weapons in the game if you’re a Premium user. You must use scraps or duplicate items to create a new item which can be a new weapon of your choice.
Trading
You can also trade with other players! If you have something they want, you can get a new weapon to use. It’ll take a while for you to figure out who or where has the best trade offers, but they’re worth it.
Purchase
Of course, you can always buy new weapons from the Mann Co. Store. The store also has items from the Community Creators. There are also Supply Crates where you can find Strange weapons for a stranger experience.
Events
Taking part in events can also get you a random drop from weapons to cosmetic items. You can also do duels where every 10 wins will get you a new item which can be weapons.
