Type Soul: How to Use Confusion Rework Guide

Confusion has been reworked, so you’re probably a bit confused right now…

In one of the latest updates for Type Soul, they reworked the Confusion Shikai, making it a little more annoying and maybe even bumping it up in terms of viability. How exactly does it work, though? In this guide, we will quickly go through how you can use the new kit of Confusion.

How to Use Confusion Rework Guide

So, before we get to the actual abilities, it should be noted that the Confusion move set now features a “Confusion bar”. This is basically a new resource that you can fill up by dealing damage to enemies.

Certain abilities in your move set will change in varying ways depending on how much meter you have built up, with a full Confusion bar having the most potent effect on any of the abilities.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, the next section will be all about the kit’s new abilities and how the Confusion bar interacts with each of these skills.

Reworked Confusion Moves

Individuality (Z Move)

First up, we have the Individuality (Z move) skill. This will consume your Confusion bar and create multiple clones that will also mirror your movements. This effect will only occur when used against a single target.

The important thing to keep in mind here is that the number of clones is directly affected by how much Confusion was used. For example, a full Confusion bar will result in six clones, while less than that will drop this number down to around two.

When you use it against a group, the effect changes significantly. Instead of spawning clones, Individuality will confuse enemy players by swapping their avatars and also hiding everybody’s names. The duration of this effect will depend on how full your Confusion bar is.

Also, if you hold Z instead to tapping it, you will activate another variant of this ability. Instead of creating clones around your target, you will create a purple outline that will force the target to teleport back to it after a brief moment.

Mindmelt (X Move)

The Mindmelt ability is a counter that requires you to have some of your Confusion bar filled up to successfully land. The more meter you have on your Confusion bar, the longer your counter frame will last.

If you manage to land this counter, half of your Confusion bar will be refunded, and the cooldown will reset. In addition to that, the counter itself will also spawn a clone that only the target can see.

These clones will behave just like the Individuality ones. They will also disappear after a while if you haven’t used any Confusion abilities that spawn clones for a certain period of time.

Because of how it works, you can theoretically spam this ability forever. However, if you miss a single counter, you will have pretty much no meter left to do anything else.

Inverted World (C Move)

Next up is the Inverted World ability. This is not exactly new to Confusion’s kit, as I distinctly recall making a reference to this skill a long time ago as well.

Basically, after activating the ability (which is blockable), your character will spin their weapon and momentarily invert the sight of your target. The duration of this effect, which basically just flips their screen, will depend on how full your Confusion bar is.

Confusion Bankai

With your Bankai active, you will gain the ability to use a handful of new skills, including an extra passive that you can take advantage of for a massive advantage. Let’s quickly go through them:

What’s Even Real? / Illusion Return (Passive Ability)

While active, your character will leave an orb on the ground every 15 seconds. This will have a snapshot of your health and rei at that time, and you can teleport back to the orb by pressing the T button.

Teleporting back will put your health and rei at the same value that was saved when the orb was created. On top of that, your ability cooldowns will also revert to whatever state they were in at the time, meaning that you can essentially use this as a cheeky full refresh.

NOTE: If you look close enough, the health and rei values are actually shown right above the orb, so you don’t have to guess what you had 15 seconds ago every time it pops up!

Unseen Truth (G Move)

Next up, the Unseen Truth ability is an offensive skill that causes you to teleport around an opponent while also slashing them each time. This will continue for a total of five hits, and during the skill, you have invincibility frames.

This will automatically track your target of choice, and since it comes with iframes, you can abuse this to avoid getting downed immediately whenever multiple players gank you.

And that wraps up this quick overview of the reworked Confusion, which is still pretty straightforward to use but is surely going to be even more annoying for those on the receiving end of its abilities.
