Arena shooters have been on the rise lately with so many cool and interesting games out there that can pump your blood faster with all the fast-paced shooting and killing. These games pride themselves with a low skill floor but a high skill ceiling, paired with fast-paced shooting and getting more points for chaining kills and you get a waltz of violence and gore reminiscent of old Arena shooters. Speed, Accuracy, and style is the name of the game and in Ultrakill it’s no different. In this guide, we’ll show you the basics of the game Ultrakill so that you can turn into an ultra-fast killing machine!
Complete Beginner’s Guide For Ultrakill
It’s an Arena shooter, so people gravitate on going as fast as possible while shooting everywhere hoping to kill anything on the way. The game can quickly turn into a cacophony of madness with enemies swarming everywhere and blood spilling around the place. But one must understand that there is a method to the madness and you should always remember these things.
One of the first thing the game tells you is “Blood is Fuel.” The game was not joking, the more blood you bask in the more HP you get. You heal from blood, so punching enemies or shooting them close with your guns is your only method of healing. At higher difficulties enemies deal hard damage though, which means you can’t heal that damage after a certain amount of time, to discourage recklessness.
Your melee attack is not just for healing but for Parrying. You can parry melee attacks, projectiles and enemies that hurl themselves towards you. It needs timing but if done right it heals you to full and even sends projectiles back as explosives.
The blue bars below your health represent your dash bar. You can dash 3 times before you have to wait for them to refill. Dashing gives you invulnerability of a few moments, great for dodging projectiles or melee attacks.
There is no sprint there is only slide, there is nothing but speed in this game. Slide everywhere and slide indefinitely, even at upward slopes.
Tapping the slide key while in midair does a slam attack, great for squishing enemies!
When moving into a wall you can stick to it and it slows your decent. You can use this to climb walls by wall jumping but you can only do it 3 times.
Now let’s talk about weapons, there’s a lot of weapons to choose from in Ultrakill, and listing all of their usage might be too much for one article so here is a simple list of them and their basic usage.
- Piercer Revolver: Starting Weapon, Alt fire charge to fire a piercing shot.
- Marksman Revolver: Alt fire to throw a coin, shooting the coin will auto hit an enemy’s weak spot.
- Core Eject Shotgun: Shotgun that can be devastating at close range, alt fire shoots a core that explodes, hold the button longer for longer range.
- Pump Shotgun: Alt-fire of this shotgun loads more pellets, pumping it 3 times and firing makes it explode.
Those are the basics of the game, there’s more out there but that would be spoiling it already. So go out there and kill!
