God of War Ragnarok is coming out in 2 weeks. There have been many speculations as to what will actually happen to Kratos in this upcoming game. Will Sony follow their other games and kill off the main character to give an everlasting impact and build up Atreus or not? Let’s talk a little bit about it and tell you our opinion and thoughts.

God Of War Ragnarok – Will Kratos Die?

Without keeping you waiting for the final answer – Yes, it is very possible the Kratos might die in the God of War Ragnarok.

The main question that got us asking this is that 5-hour mark that we have discussed in our other article about God Of War Ragnarok which you can find here – Is God Of War Ragnarok Misleading Us With It’s Trailers/Marketing?

First of all, if you are a newcomer to the franchise you must know that Death isn’t anything new to Kratos, not even in the slightest. That brings back the question of if Kratos dies, does it mean that he will be gone forever or can he come back in the later stages of the game? Or possibly in the new upcoming God of War Games.

In God of War 3, he actually stabs himself with a gigantic thundering sword right through his abdomen and he manages to come back from it. So if it does happen and Kratos does die, that begs the question of whether will it matter at all.

The thing is, will his death be impactful and sad? Yes of course. But will the players want to go on with the future god of wars titles and possible new franchise branches without him? We certainly don’t think this is the case.

Although this game has been building up Atreus to be playable, which he will 100% be in the Ragnarok game, still having him as a change of our beloved Kratos will simply not just be good enough at all.

Miles Morales has done this in the Spiderman series and the same thing has happened in the Last of Us. So can Sony try to do the same thing here? It is a very high possibility and chance that they might go for it.

We are thinking that this is their plan of possibly ending this mythology. If Kratos dies in this section of the game it might be final. It won’t be a God of war 3 death where he will come back because bringing back the character and lessening the impact of Death will certainly lower the whole character’s power.

So maybe this is the plan of Sony leaving this mythology behind and branching out on something else and different and giving an end to Kratos? There have been some leaks lately that say differently than this, but still, nothing is certain.

Another thing that must be said is that Kratos is still a character that just cares for himself. Then you have God of War 2018 where he has caring for Atreus which brings out a whole new side of him. Maybe this was the build-up that we needed to see Kratos finally go?

Then comes the question of how does he die? Does Atreus kill him, does Odin kill him there are so many possibilities for this to actually happen and we most likely feel that if they follow the typical cliche – Atreus will be the one killing him. But we will just have to wait and see.

But if you do look at the other side of things, there are 4 years and 2 games for both of these characters and the love for them keeps growing. Is Sony going to use this to make a huge blast with Kratos dying, or just keep using them for the near future? This is a very big possibility too.

We will say that they have to add an element when Kratos will have a weakness when fighting these big god bosses. This will make the life of Atreus and his character to be that much better and more believable to make it outstand any previous feeling you might have had while playing God of War.

That’s all we have to say about this subject. We just have to wait and see what actually ends up happening. Until then, stay patient! A big thank you to Podcast Now for these details. Make sure to check him out here.
