One of the easiest spells that you can get in Derelict is the Crashing Embers. I’m using the term spell here because it’s what their official wiki calls it, but some people call it Soul-Art. Whatever you call it, the fact is unlike other spells that need you to defeat bosses or go to difficult areas, this one is in the easier side. All you need to do is go somewhere and open a chest.
In this guide, we’ll show you where to find that chest where you can get your first spell or Soul-Art. Now, get ready since it’s going to be a long walk going there!

In Derelict, there are a lot of ways to play through the game. One of the things you can do is use spells and there’s a few of them you can find. The first one most player get is the Crashing Embers spell and that’s what we’ll show here.
Here are the steps that we’ll take to get your first Spell or Soul-Art in Derelict:
- Get to the Feeding Grounds Bonsai by going through the Bridge To The Feeding Grounds area.
- Head West until you see giant skeletal remains.
- Go through the skeletal remains and start heading north past the snails.
- Head to the mountain with two horns.
- Go on top of the mountain and get the Crashing Embers!

Detailed Walkthrough
To start off, you’ll want to progress through the game until you reach the Feeding Grounds Bonsai. This is after you go through the Bridge to the Feeding Grounds area. Once you get to that Bonsai, you’ll want to start heading west.
You can follow the path from the Bonsai but keep on heading west until you see the giant skeletal remains. You can clearly see it through the fog because of how huge it is like it’s shown below.
Continue going to the Skeletal Remains to the west until you get to the other side. Once you get to the other side of the skeleton, start heading north following the edge of the skeleton. If you see a bunch of snails, then you’re getting closer.
North of the snails is a mountain that looks like it has two horns. Head over there and start climbing to the top. You can use the image below as a reference.
Once you get to the top of that mountain, there should be a flat area where you’ll find a chest. Open the chest and you can get your very first spell, Crashing Embers. To equip this spell, you’ll need to go to a Bonsai and equip through the menus there.
The Crashing Embers spell is primarily a spell used for offense. The damage of the spell scales with your Arcane like all the other spells. It’s also an AOE spell that deals good damage to a group of enemies just as long as they’re close together.
