It’s only a matter of time before you get tired of the initial three characters you get stuck with while playing The First Descendant. Naturally, you’d want to start grinding materials to get whoever looks the cutest, or whoever has the sharpest jawline.
This is where Blair comes in, to get this character you’re going to have to keep repeating the same activities until you get everything you need. Find out more about the mats you need to unlock him by reading the rest of the guide!

How to Unlock Blair
If you want to be able to use Blair, then you’ll have to unlock his character first. You can do that along with the other characters by talking to Magister Anais in the game’s central hub.
Some of the materials needed to unlock or upgrade characters stay the same, with only a few differences every now and then.
Here’s what you need to do in order to unlock Blair:
- Interact with Magister Anais and choose Research Request.
- Select the Descendant Tab.
- Choose the Descendant you want to unlock (Blair).
- Farm or buy the materials/components needed.
- Start the research request once you gather all the materials.

Detailed Walkthrough
The characters you want can always be unlocked by interacting with Magister Anais. Find her in the central hub and choose Research Request to get started. This will take you to the research screen where you’ll see even more options including Descendants.
Hover over the Descendants tab and look around for Blair. Find him and you’ll be taken to another screen that shows his character in greater detail.
This includes all the research materials you need to farm. You can get the materials for Blair by doing different activities while playing the game.
If you’re missing a material or two then fear not, you can always just hover over it to get more information. Hovering over the research material will show you what activities you need to do for them to end up in your inventory.
You can also purchase the materials you need, if you don’t like playing for more than thirty minutes. Talk to Anais again and go to Research Request. This time choose the Descendant Material Shop. Here’s what you’ll need for Blair:
- 1x Blair Enhanced Cells
- 1x Blair Stabilizer
- 1x Blair Spiral Catalyst
- 1x Blair Code
Gather all the materials needed and talk to Anais once more to start the research process. Go to research request again and boost the research with in-game premium currency to shorten the wait. You can even go as far as finishing the research in an instant!
