Opera and Ernest are two characters that you can get in Star Ocean: The Second Story R. These two characters are almost like a package who come with fun interactions since they have an established relationship. And here we’re going to show you how to get the pair into your party.
How To Recruit Opera & Ernest
The very first requirement to have Opera and Ernest in your party is to: not recruit Ashton. If you have him, you won’t be able to recruit Opera whom you need to get Ernest in your party. And they can be unlocked pretty early as you proceed through the main quest until you reach Krosse.
Recruiting Opera Vectra (mandatory for Ernest Raviede)
While originally you have to enter Private Action event to meet Ernest first, the remake changed that a bit.
Now, you will get the event as part of the main quest in Krosse Castle, allowing you to recruit them later if you want. However, there’s only a short time window to recruit them.
Begin after you’re done with the tournament in Lacuer by heading inside the bar in Hilton.
Head into the bar where you will meet Opera inside and start an event which used to be a PA in the original game. She’s going to talk about Ernest and after that, you can head next to Krosse Castle.
Get an audience with the King by speaking to the receptionist on the left side, then head to the Mountain Palace.
The King would’ve granted you a permission to enter the dungeon so you can explore the Mountain Palace which is to the north of the first continent before Kurik.
There’s only two ways to go in the dungeon, so head to the right path. But we suggest exploring this place for the loot.
Follow the marker and you’ll see cutscenes with Opera noting about the dungeon before asking if you want to join her exploring this place. Say yes and she’ll be in your team.
Keep following the marker to the lab for another cutscene and she’s officially in the party.
Recruiting Ernest Raviede
To recruit Ernest, head into the Sacred Forest, which is where Claude first land in the start of the game.
You’ll see Opera’s crashed plane and get the cutscene necessary to make Ernest recruitable. Or simply skip all of these if you don’t want Ernest in your team and want to make space for another character.
After getting the cutscene, continue with your quest until you have Hoffman Ruins unlocked. After completing the quest, as you make your way back down, there’s going to be a cutscene between Opera and Ernest.
Now, you can recruit them both, but they come as a pair. If you say no, they’ll both leave and if you say yes, they’ll both be in your party.
