The last Dragon’s Dogma game was released more than 8 years ago. After such a long time, Capcom recently came out with Dragon’s Dogma 2. The game is released on PC and consoles (PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S & Series X) as well. The Stat Growth in Dragon’s Dogma 2 has changed quite a bit compared to the original game. Read this guide to get familiar with the new Stat Growth system.

How Does Stat Growth Work

In the original Dragon’s Dogma, your Stats were immensely affected by the Vocation you choose. You had to play as certain Vocations to better optimize your Stat Growth before you had the choice to play as the Vocation you actually liked. This was really annoying as you had to play most of the game as a Vocation you did not enjoy playing as.

Different Vocations offered by the game.

Dynamic Stat Growth

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, the Stat Growth is still affected by the Vocation but not as severely as the original game. Your Stat Growth changes dynamically with the Vocation you want to play as and eventually you will reach the same Base Stats no matter which Vocation you maxed out first.

Because of the Dynamic Stat Growth, you do not actually need to Min Max your Stat Growth to enjoy playing Dragon’s Dogma 2. Change to whatever Vocation you find interesting in the game at any time.

If curious, following are the Stat Growth preferences of the starting 4 Vocations:

  • Fighter: Strength, Defense and HP.
  • Archer: Strength and Stamina.
  • Mage: Magick and Magick Defense
  • Thief: Strength and Stamina.

Stat Growth Cap

At about level 200 (give a few levels maybe), all of your Base Stats will even out. After this cap has been reached (level 200), the only Stat that will gain an increase is HP. It will increase by +3 at every level until you reach level 999.

What Does All This Mean?

To put it simply, you do not need to worry too much about your Stat Growth. Because no matter what Vocation you start playing as, eventually you are going to end up with similar Base Stats. And your Stats dynamically change to better suit your current Vocation. So, feel free to swap between different Vocations during your journey in the game.

This completes this short guide on how the Stat Growth works in Dragon’s Dogma 2. If you are still in the early stages of the game then you will need to do quite a lot of Vocation leveling up. Check this quick guide for tips: Fastest Way To Max Vocation Guide.
