It may seem like you’re soft-locked in Dragon’s Dogma 2 if you’re not carefully making saves in safe areas or go to places unprepared, like when you accidentally stepped into Bakbattahl from Vernworth. If you think you’re screwed, we’ll show some ways to help you get back to Vernworth or Harve Village. Or at least, not having to start an entirely new character. Hopefully.
How to Get Back to Vernworth from Bakbattahl
After crossing the border, you most likely isn’t allowed to cross back to Vernworth from Bakbattahl. That’s just how it is and you’re forced to continue and not look back ever again.
However, there are some ways to revert the situation or get you out of there. Some of which might help you here!
Loading
Reloading the save file might be the first knee-jerk reaction most players have here. If you haven’t already, try reloading your last save file before entering this area.
Ferrystone
Using a Ferrystone, you can teleport to other Portcrystals in the game. Namely the Vernworth or Harve Village’s. Purchase the Ferrystone from the item seller in the city here.
Vernworth and Harve Village’s Portcrystals are stationary. For example, you can find Vernwroth’s Portcrystal just in the southern area of the Merchant’s Quarter, bordering the Noble Quarter. It’s very close to the Vocation Guild and Grand Riftstone of Vermund.
Back Entrance
If the way back doesn’t work, it’s time to go forward. The map below reveals another secret pathway that you can take in–and out–of Bakbattahl.
Beast Mask via Guerco Cavern
Take the north coast road all the way to the Guerco Cavern. You can explore this place and get out at the end to Vernworth. With that said, you need a Beast Mask to be allowed to past. Not to mention this is a very huge cave with a Chimera.
You can opt to just run for the heck of it if you have the Beast Mask and leave this place as fast as you can.
Overall, you’re not really soft-locked! There are several ways you can exit this area, if you’re not ready yet. But definitely make sure to hit up the Portcrystals at all time, just so you can teleport out when needed.
