Rust is a multiplayer survival game where you face the island’s wildlife, other inhabitants, the environment, and other survivors who are all a threat to your life. You must also manage your hunger, thirst and health to avoid dying. To survive, you’ll need equipment. What better way to equip yourself than through acquiring raw materials through farming. Here’s how to build a hemp farm.
How To Build Hemp Base
Building and setting up a hemp base for smaller groups does not require much investment on your part and can still provide you with amazing results. If you still need help with some of the basics, check out this guide on How To Change Characters.
The method for building a hemp base and a berry is pretty much the same, as well. This guide will include:
- Type of base/what you need in your base
- Building your base
- Electricity
So, let’s get started!
Type of base/what you need in your base
We’ll give you a little tour of a good Hemp base you can build that has all the necessary equipment in order to run the plantation. The Base will consist of two floors and a roof.
On the first floor, we’ll have:
- A large plantation area with four large planter boxes.
This is where all the farming part will occur.
- We’ll also have the electricity which will come in handy and we will also explain as part of this guide.
- Behind the electricity, we’ll make a little bit of space.
- We’ll make a TC.
- Water pumps
- Electric branches
- Switches
- Fluid switches
- Fluid Combiners
On the second floor, we’ll build:
- Three more planter boxes
- A water purifier in the end of the room
- Next to the purifier, a large battery.
- Ceiling lights
- Water sprinklers
For the roof we will build one where it can hold:
- Three solar panels
- And three root combiners.
All of this sounds a bit elaborate but it will make your hemp design flawless and function efficiently. Now, let’s move onto the building part.
Building the base
You’re going to start off your base by going slightly into the ocean. Not too far off and not too close to the land.
There, you’ll build a triangle foundation. Add four more triangles (three in a line and two in the above corners.) Then, facing the land, make a 2×2 grid with square platforms.
The placement of the triangles are highlighted in the image below and the platform that the character is standing on in the same image is the 2×2 grid:
After you destroy two of the following triangles that are crossed:
In the holes, you place your water pumps.
Next to it, place a wall for your TC. First place the two back walls and then the TC in front of it.
In front of the TC, you place a window. Then, place windows all around the platform you made and around the water pumps too.
Leave a side empty and instead of windows, place two wall frames there.
Beyond the wall frame, place three triangles. Separate the middle triangle by placing two wall frames on the triangles at the end. And then, place two doorways at the end of that wall. After that, start placing your roofs. Leave a triangle roof open in the corner, allowing you space to jump up to the top floors.
Now, you can adjust all deployable doors and windows. This is how the first floor of your base should look:
Once that’s done, get 4 large planter boxes and place them in a 2×2 grid.
Now, it’s time to go to the second floor.
NOTE: You can create platforms that lead you to the second floor and destroy them after you reach the top. This is just to temporarily get you there since you’ll be using the hole in the ceiling to jump up to the second floor anyway.
Second Floor
When you are on the second floor, place 4 windows on the sides.
Then, place three walls. At the opposite side (where the ceiling hole that gets you the top floor is) place three walls, on the left and two around the opening on the floor.
After that, once again start placing your roofs. (Remember to leave an opening on the ceiling to get to the roof). Over here, you can also start placing your deployables, windows, etc. Here are all of the inside deployables you’ll need on the second floor:
The roof
Finally, for the roof: Place three solar panels facing the sun, just the way shown in the image below:
And there it is, you’re practically set up with the basic deployables in your hemp base. It’s time to start setting up the electricity now.
Electricity
Starting from the roof, place two root combiners and attach the solar panels to the combiners.
Take the root combiner (that has only one solar panel attached to it) and attach that to the battery on the floor underneath.
Then, come down to the pumps and place a switch on the wall next to it.
After that, go back up to the battery, grab the power output of the battery and attach it to the switch next to the pump.
Attach it straight onto the power input.
Then, add two electrical branches next to it. Afterwards, connect the power from the switch to the electrical branches, exactly the way it’s shown in the image below:
Configure both branches to “5”. Then, take the branch out from the configure part and attach each to a water pump. After that, you can turn the switch on and that’s how you get the water pumps running.
After this, get a fluid combiner, a fluid switch and another electrical branch and place them above the previous two electrical branches and switches. Attach the bottom branch to the new one and then the new branch to the fluid switch.
Configure the third branch to “3”. For the next step, get a hose and attach it from the water pumps to the fluid combiner. Get one hose for each pump and attach both to the fluid combiner.
After that, attach the fluid combiner to the fluid switch. Then the fluid switch (pump output) into the purifier.
When you go down and turn on to the switch, the purifier will start filling up with sea water and turn it into clear water. Next on the same floor with the purifier, on the top between the windows, place a fluid switch and attach it to the purifier. Then place two sprinklers each on the ceilings of each floor.
When you place four sprinklers in total. Attach the “Water out” part of the fluid switch to the “water in” part of the sprinklers. Then, attach the “Past through” part of the same sprinkler to the “Water in” part of the other sprinkler. After that, attach the second fluid switch to all of the sprinklers on the bottom floor (first floor) the same way.
Essentially, it all has to line up. Keep in mind where the water source comes from and where it needs to come out. Use a bit of logic on the direction of electricity and water and you should be good to go!
After that, add one more electrical branch to the previous branches, configure it to 10 and attach it to the water purifier on the floor above.
This is the part where you can start planting and switch on the sprinklers for your plants to be watered perfectly. As long as all four sprinklers are working perfectly and the water is purified, then that means you’ve executed it all flawlessly. You can now enjoy farming your hemp base and yielding various plantations from it!
