You may have come across an item called a Crystallization Catalyst in The First Descendant. After reading its description, it says that your hero will be reset to level one, and you’ll have to level them up again. However, it’s also good to know that this is part of the sacrifice you make to get the specific benefits that I’ll be discussing in the guide. Basically, I’ll show you how to acquire the Crystallization Catalyst and how you can effectively use it to make your game a lot easier, depending on where you are in the game.
Crystallization Catalyst Guide
In order to use the Crystallization Catalyst, you’ll need to gather materials. These materials are farmable from specific missions, making it straightforward to find what you need without having to search through countless missions.
For example, you can farm Advanced Neural Circuits from the Echo Swamp (Normal) mission by killing specific enemies repeatedly. For the other materials, you can simply hover into it and click the button for “Acquisition Info”, and you’ll see all the locations or missions where you can get the said material.
Once you have all the materials, you can research the Crystallization Catalyst, which takes about 7.5 hours. It’s definitely worth the wait. So, what does it do? It helps with your Modules. Let me explain.
When you look at anything with Modules, you’ll see specific slots for different mods. For instance, a slot with a green symbol might halve the energy required for a mod that matches that symbol. This is where the Crystallization Catalyst comes in – it allows you to assign a specific symbol to a module slot, reducing the module capacity used for mods placed in that slot.
Here’s a step-by-step on how to use the Crystallization Catalyst:
- Go to “Module Additional Settings.”
- Select “Assign Module Socket Type.”
- Choose the slot you want to change and assign the desired symbol.
For example, if you have an increased HP mod that costs 10 Capacity, placing it in a slot with the matching symbol can reduce its cost to 5. This frees up capacity for other mods, significantly enhancing your build.
Remember, the Crystallization Catalyst works on one character. You can switch characters and apply the catalyst to optimize their builds too. It’s essential for creating a powerful setup.
If you’re aiming for end-game perfection, you’ll want multiple fully upgraded slots with the right symbols. This means farming for more Crystallization Catalysts and materials, but the effort is well worth it.
There you have it! I hope I was able to help you understand and utilize the Crystallization Catalyst effectively in The First Descendant. is it possible to keep slotting catalysts to keep resetting? like if you max all the slots out could you remove a slot to resert and then after you hit 40 again, reslot to reset again? or would it cap out at some point?
