Ability Wars Portal Mastery guide

The Portal Mastery update in Ability Wars has dropped and if you’re like everyone else, you’re looking on how to get the mastery fast. It’s a very fun skill inspired from Valve’s Portal game. There’s a series of things you need to do and a key you have to find. Without further ado, here’s how to get the Portal Mastery.

How To Get Portal Mastery

First, you need the Wooden Key which has 7 spawn locations and you need to get the Astrum Deus badge. There are certain places you need to go and everything has to be done in a public server, so do note this. To summarize:

  1. You must find the Wooden Key in one out of the 6 possible locations where it can spawn.
  2. Head to the pool area with the key and the door will open.
  3. Immediately head inside as the door closes soon.
  4. Go through the portal.
  5. Finish the portal puzzle in 45 seconds.
  6. Try again if you fail from getting a key.

After getting the key, go to the pool area and a hidden door will unlock immediately. Enter the hidden alleyway and you’ll end up at a portal that takes you to this special area. Do note that even if you use Teleportation to go into this space, you cannot go through the portal without using the key as intended.

Head to the white portal and it’s time to do the challenge in under 45 seconds. Great news, though – the game doesn’t boot you out when you’ve ran out of time. So you can use your first run as a test to learn the course before doing the speedrun next.

Key Spawn Locations

The first key spawn spot is behind the potato in the log cabin. You can use Shift+lock function to peer into the locked area to see if there’s a key behind it. Below is a screenshot of when there’s none.

The second spawn spot is right between the Cat and Dog NPCs in the cabin, behind the counter.

The next one is up in the hidden room of the big tree. Go through this small gap that is slight indented. It’s a tree with the Inventor inside and the third key spawn should be behind his chair. It’s going to be a bit hard to see but you can just safely spam click and see if you get one.

The fourth spawn is on the root of the same tree, right in the corner that’s completely covered by the shadow. If you click on it, you’ll get a key if that’s the spawn point.

The fifth spawn is in the attic of the log cabin, behind the potion cabinet.

The sixth spawn spot can be on top of this hill around the trees, above the Mystic Cave room.

Portal Challenge Solution

You can get a friend to make the run easier. The rule is simple: portals can only be created on white surface. It’s a two-way portal and only two of yours can exist at all times. The first one is easy – just shoot a portal high up to let you fall there.

Next, look through the gap to make a portal and jump in. Alternatively, you can spam jump on shift+lock mode to go through the gap.

Make another portal up above the ledge and teleport there. Now make another one as high as you can. As you teleport up, shoot one on the horizontal space in front of you.

It’s going to look like this. The next one is going to be the most challenging one yet, however.

Look to the side that has completely brown surface. If you jump down, you’ll be able to see slightly white gap above those area. You need to time it so you can get a shot in there and land on this side of the area.

Do the same thing again with the final hurdle. The last one is easy because the white surface is pretty wide so just shoot in the general direction of directly in front of you. Best case scenario is if you can shoot it directly behind the portal so you can jump into the portal right upon teleporting.

If you cannot do it under 45 seconds, you’ll just be transported back to the lobby. So good luck!
