Derelict – How To Defeat Asher & Get Umbral Spell

Spells have finally been implemented in Derelict, allowing players to learn them by defeating certain enemies, like the Umbral Grasp from Asher. It also comes with a new set of skills to master like Sorcery and Staffs to craft. We’ll show you how you can get this spell in the game!

How To Defeat Asher & Get Umbral Grasp Spell

To get the Umbral Grasp, you have to defeat Asher as the boss and then enscribe the spell. You can meet Asher after finishing a series of quests in Baron’s Tavern from his father, Baron.

Teleport to Hollow’s Outback and head to Baron’s Tavern if you haven’t already unlocked the Bonsai Travel. Baron’s Tavern is to the northwest from Hollow’s Outback. Take the left path on the first branch (to the right is the Weeping Grove) and the right path on the second branch.

Once you’re here, you’ll find an NPC marked “???” asking for your help to clear out the ghouls so he can mourn in peace. Do that for him and the quest will continue to him asking you to find him key fragments.

You will need to find three key fragments: one is on the back side of big mausoleum in the middle, one is in the crypt to the right from it and one is all the way to the back from the mausoleum near a grave on top of the hill.

Great news, you can collect these fragments whilst looking for the Ghouls or Depraved.

The keys are indicated as Mysterious Loot. After getting him his key, he will let you know that his son, Asher, is in the tower nearby. This is a series of Baron’s quests that lead towards locating one of the game’s source of spells.

Once you do, head to the Weeping Grove. Asher’s Stormbearer is to the northeast of Baron’s Tavern. Once you reach the Bonsai in Weeping Grove, look to the east and then south to find a huge tower with enemies along the way.

At the end of the stairs is a wide arena for you to fight Asher, the Storm of Vengeance. Asher uses four skills, including the Umbral Grasp. It is exactly the same as your own skill, but you will have an easier time dodging that.

The key to fighting Asher and most bosses here, is being patient. The best fighting style is using single M1 hits with pauses in between so you have time to dodge his skills.

All of them are best avoiding by dodging sideways instead of backwards. Remember, there’s a short iFrame during dodge that you can make full use of especially against his Lightning Bolt and Lightning Sword skills.

After winning the boss fight, you can now buy spells from him. You will find Asher inside the tower as an NPC. You have to enscribe the spells for 7715 Crowns each.

Umbral Grasp is one of the most useful skills in the game due to the stun ability. The duration is also considerably good enough for boss fights, like fighting the Avarus Captain. Good luck on your journey!
