Dragon’s Dogma 2: How To Get Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome?

Turn your Pawn into a bonafide Elvish translator!

There are multiple races in Dragon’s Dogma 2, with Elves being peculiar as you can’t understand their language with the Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome.

This unique tome will unlock a Specialization for your Main Pawn, allowing them to act as an Elvish translator! It’s a must-have if you want to talk to Elf NPCs, that’s for sure.

In this short guide, we’ll tell you everything you need to know to get and use this Specialization Tome!

How To Get Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome

Sacred Arbor Location | Dragon's Dogma 2: How To Get Woodland Wordsmith's Tome?

You can get the Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome by becoming friends with certain NPCs within the Sacred Arbor. To make things easier, we will be becoming friends with Kough at Kough’s Inn.

If you have yet to reach the Sacred Arbor, you can find it north of Vernsworth and southwest of Melve. Refer to the map above to find it easily!

Bunch of Flowers item

You’ll also require multiple Bunch of Flowers items. You shouldn’t need more than about 5 of them, but it’s better to have more than that just in case.

You can get a Bunch of Flowers by looting it randomly from chests or combining two types of flowers together. Alternatively, you can buy them for 1000 G at the Flower Stand in Bakbattahl.

Crafting a Bunch of Flowers

All things considered, we highly recommend using Item Combination to make as many of these Bunches of Flower as you need. It’s by far the easiest method, just use the Combine feature at any inn or camp!

Once you reach the Sacred Arbor, head toward Kough’s Inn in the northern part of the village and speak with Kough.

Giving Bunch of Flowers to Kough

Now, press X (Xbox) or Square (PlayStation) and select to gift her one Bunch of Flowers.

With that done, rest up at the bench near the inn’s entrance for an entire day. After resting, just give Kough another Bunch of Flowers.

Repeat this process 3 to 5 times and Kough will give you a gift next time you talk to her: the Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome!

Do note that you can do this method with other NPCs at the Sacred Arbor instead of Kough. Give them Bunches of Flowers until they gift you the Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome.

However, we picked Kough as she seems to be the fastest. Plus, her inn conveniently has a bench for you to pass time quickly.

How To Use Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome

With the tome in your possession, go into your inventory. Find and use the Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome to give your Main Pawn the “Woodland Wordsmith” Specialization.

They will now translate Elvish dialogues for you automatically! They’ll also translate Elvish for any other players who hire your Pawn, which is likely to get you some nice gifts.

However, do remember that your Pawn can only have one Specialization active at a time and Specialization Tomes are consumed upon use.

Specialization: Woodland Wordsmith

Using the Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome will override your Pawn’s current Specialization and also consume the tome!

Sadly, there’s no way to swap Specializations in and out like you can with Augments…

Nonetheless, now you know how to get the Woodland Wordsmith’s Tome easily, so you’ll have no issues understanding Elvish anymore.
