Kratos understands the advantages of upgrading your weapons. In the original God of War trilogy and the spin offs, the players can upgrade his weapons by using the red orbs that he collects when fighting enemies and opening chests. In God of War 2018 and Ragnarok, he now uses resources that he collects from his adventures in the open world. As a Spartan general, he makes use of the resources around him to better his weapons, like the Hardened War Handles that you can find in God of War Ragnarok for the Blades of Chaos.

Go to The Forbidden Sands
The Hardened War Handles can be found in the southern area of The Forbidden Sands (use the image above to find the exact location of where you need to go).
Open the Legendary Chest
The Legendary Chest can be found behind one of those regenerating plants. Solve it, and you should be able to go under the large rock that has the Legendary Chest.
