Doing the main objective and progressing through the story is a given when playing Honkai Star Rail. But sometimes you want to take things slow and explore on your own. A third option would be to further your relationship with your party members by doing them favors.
Asta has done right by you so far, she will further capitalize on this by asking you for more help. Let’s see what’s worrying her this time in “An Unexpected Turn of Events.” Read this guide if you want to know more about this character side quest!
An Unexpected Turn of Events Guide
As you progress through the game, you will start receiving text messages from people you’ve met. Asta will be one of them as she, along with many others, also has her own Companion Mission. Think of these missions as quests tied to specific characters. To begin, go talk to Asta in the Master Control Zone of the Herta Space Station. She needs help with a missing person!
Asta will tell you about Arlan’s disappearance. She came to this conclusion due to the fact that he hasn’t been answering her calls. Finish the conversation and talk to the dognext. You will follow Peppy around the Master Control Zone to search for clues.
When you reach the crowd, your objective will change. Now you have to fish information from Professor Capote. Interact with the fan club to know more about Arlan’s whereabouts. You’re scripted to fail as the Professor doesn’t know when to stop talking smack.
Talk to the professor again and threaten him with a dismissal, he’ll give you three things to aid your quest. These would be a Fan Reply Card, a Limited Edition Snapshot, and a Life Wiki.
Turn all of this in to Asta. She’s still in the Master Control Zone and won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.
Time to follow Peppy again! The good boy has made his way to the Base zone. You can get there easily by using the Reception Center fast travel point. Talk to the puppy and follow him down the hallway.
You’ll find Dan Heng and a few Weavers down the hall. Do a little spring cleaning and get rid of the Legion to clear a path.
Now that the way is clear, talk to Dan Heng to learn more about Arlan’s trial. You’ll get more clues that need to be turned back in to Asta in order to progress.
Lucky for you, she’s right next to everyone else. There’s no need to teleport back to the Master Control Zone this time. Talk to her again to update your objective.
Peppy the doggo is your best friend here, follow him again to the Supply Zone. Use the Railway Platform fast travel point to keep all of the walking to a minimum.
Take a walk with Peppy down the corridor and into the station to your right. March 7th will be waiting near the tracks so go talk to her next.
She’ll notice the dog first before you for good reason. That, and she’ll also give you a photo of Arlan’s Back once you finish your conversation.
Your next objective is to track down the suspicious crystals. This will be in the Supply Zone as well, use the Spare Parts Warehouse fast travel point to get there.
The objective will be blocked by a Voidranger so finish the battle first if you want to proceed. You might as well get the chest behind him while you’re at it, for all the trouble he caused! Since you’re here, you might as well search the rest of the area for more loot. Now go to the crystal sticking out of the wall and investigate further.
Another crystal formation can be found in the Supply Zone. This time it’s in the Electrical Room so use the fast travel point again to shorten the walk.
Now that you’re here, prepare for another fight. The crystals aren’t sentient enough to move around on their own so take your time!
With the threat now gone, you can talk to Arlan and the rest of the gang! Present all of the evidence you’ve gathered to get Arlan to talk. The dialog will be quite lengthy but this is basically the end of the quest!
