There’s this annoying problem on the PlayStation5 where some games or apps don’t seem to start. I understand that feeling very well. In case you’re lost on what to do, I’ve come up with a few methods to solve this with ease. Let’s jump right into it!
Fix Can’t Start Game/App on PS5
Here are a few methods that you can try to use to fix this problem.
Restoring Licenses
You can restore licenses by clicking on Users and Accounts > Other > Restore Licenses. This can be done to remove the lock icon in your games downloaded from the PlayStation Store if you can not play them.
Reinstalling
If the method above doesn’t fix the problem you can opt to reinstall the game. Do this by deleting the game from your console. Once deleted you can redownload the game from the store by pressing Game Library > Your Collection > Choose the game you want to redownload. If this doesn’t work then you turn off your PlayStation 5 and proceed to the next step.
Safe Mode
Click on the power on button, you will hear a beep. Just press on the button until you hear another beep after 5-10 seconds. This will enter your PlayStation 5 to Safe Mode. Connect your controller wih your connector. Press on the PlayStation button. On the screen click on Clear Cache and Rebuild Database > Clear System Software Cache/Rebuild Database. This process could take from a few minutes to a few hours.
Once done, this should ultimately fix your problems and you can now play the game or app you want!
