Because of its surge of popularity, people have started modding it to enhance their experience or just make the game more silly overall. With that said, can vanilla players join modded servers?
Can Players Without Mods Join Modded Servers?
The short answer to this question is that it depends. If the host is running purely client-sided mods, such as those that are purely aesthetic or change the UI, other players can easily join without anything breaking.
On the other hand, for example, if it changes anything with the lobby itself, things can definitely go wrong and you will most likely run into bugs that lock you out of certain essential features of the game.
With that being said, a host can also run mods that prevents certain things from spawning, and players without those installed can still join without issue.
Basically, it varies depending on what the mods you wish to use actually do, and the only way to really find out is through trial and error.
