As an open world survival game, Nightingale features a robust crafting system mixed in with some RPG elements tied to the workbenches that you’ll be making throughout your in-game career. In this guide, we’ll give you some tips on how to set up your very first base in this randomly generated world!

Best First Place Location

As some aspects of the realms in this game are procedurally generated, we can’t give you an exact location to set up. However, that doesn’t mean we can’t give you some advice on what you should be looking for!

In addition to finding a spot that is close to various types of resources, such as wood, stone, and even animals that drop leather, the ideal set up will be near an Essence Trader.

Essence Traders are NPCs that offer you various items and recipes at the cost of essence. If you want to learn more about this resource, we have a complete guide on essence in Nightingale.

You will meet your first Essence Trader as you progress through the tutorial, and setting up close to them will serve you well at the start of the game.

This is because they also sell some essential crafting workbenches that you will need to progress into later levels.

In your home realm (or Respite Realm, as it’s referred to in-game), being in a spot near the Essence Trader and an abundance of resources will give you a massive head start and allow you to start building up your network of portals quickly.

Check out our guide on how to build your first realm portal in Nightingale as well. This will teach you to progress further into the game and allow you to start building bases in other realms.
