As an open world survival game with a very complex crafting and progression system, Nightingale will have you collecting all kinds of resources as you travel through the different realms and build bases. Because of that, you may start struggling to carry around all of the important stuff with you. In this guide, we’ll show you how to split item stacks!
How to Split Stack
In the current version of the game, there is no simple way of splitting item stacks inside your inventory. However, there are a couple of ways to do so through less direct means.
The developers might add an easier method of doing this in future updates. But for now, here are the following ways you can split stack at the moment:
Method #1 – Storage
The first method is to build any type of storage container, such as an angling basket. Upon opening it and dragging any item, you will notice that there is a prompt that says “SHIFT to split item stack”.
By holding shift while dragging an item to an empty slot (either in your inventory or the storage container), you will be given the option to split it into any size stack.
It should be noted that you can only split it by either storing it or taking it out of a container. This is because items of the same kind will always stack if they are put in the inventory or a storage container.
Method #2 – Extracting
A more extreme way of splitting item stacks is by simply extracting them for essence. By right clicking on any stack in your inventory, you can extract a specific number of the selected item.
Of course, this also means that you will be converting that number of resources into essence dust. Because of that, this method should only be used on excess stuff that you don’t mind losing forever.
This is incredibly helpful in a pinch if you find yourself gathering too many resources that your character gets over encumbered and cannot run anymore.
And those are all of the ways you can split item stacks in the game, as there is currently no straightforward way of doing so. While you’re here, check out our guide on how to hit Heart Shots as well, since this will greatly help you with Nightingale’s combat and quest/s!
