As a survival crafting game, Nightingale offers players a whole assortment of tools, materials and magic that they can use in their journey. How you use these items will dictate whether you’ll come out on top in the game. However, some of these tools can be a bit confusing for players to use.

One such item that you can use in Nightingale is the Climbing Pick. They are quite unique compared to other tools because they work slightly differently to other tools in the game. In this guide, we will show you exactly how you can use them. Let’s get into it!

How To Use Climbing Picks

To use Climbing Picks in Nightingale, you need to do the following:

  • Equip the Climbing Pick and approach a climbable rock wall
  • Use the V key to start climbing (make sure you are close)
  • Start clicking the LMB quickly to ascend before stamina runs out.

Start The Climbing Animation

Climbing Picks in Nightingale are definitely counter intuitive compared to other tools that you can use in the game. For starters, when you equip them you’ll notice that there is an additional option that you can trigger with the V key.

If you use it, you may notice that it is not doing anything. This is because you will need to first approach a rock wall that is climbable. Make sure that you are right against it before you press the V key. Doing so will get your character to put the picks into the wall and start the climbing animation.

Keep in mind that the animation will not start if you are not close. You have to be effectively touching the wall before the animation begins.

Climb the Wall Quickly (Stamina Tips)

Once you’re in the climbing animation, you’ll need to use the LMB to quickly ascend the wall. This is because you will start losing stamina almost immediately at a very rapid rate. And if you are in between climbing and losing stamina, your character will immediately fall down.

This can result in damage if you are too high and drop down from a large distance.

As a result, using the climbing pick in the early game stage of Nightingale is currently useless. As you advance through the game and unlock more abilities, you might be able to make the climbing pick work better for you with better stamina.

However, for the most part, a lot of players believe that the climbing pick needs a rework considering its current state.

That’s everything you need to know about using climbing picks in Nightingale. Once you understand how they work, using them can be pretty easy. Although, you might not find them very useful if you’re just starting out. Instead, we recommend learning other items, like getting Ingots.
