If you want your crops to grow large and wide, here’s a guide on how to grow giant plants in Rusty’s Retirement.

How To Grow Giant Plants

Before you get your hopes up, note that only some plants have giant variants. These are the tomato, cucumber, and pumpkin. Each plant will have a different method on how to grow its giant version. I’ll talk about this in more detail below.

Gameplay still of Rusty's Retirement.

Plot Sizes for Your Giant Plants

  • Tomatoes
    • To grow a giant tomato, plant your tomatoes in a 2×2 pattern on a 2×2 plot or larger.
  • Cucumber
    • It is the same as the tomatoes, plant them in a 2×2 plot.
  • Pumpkin
    • To grow these, plant the pumpkins in a 3×3 plot.

Of course, you must keep watering robots close to these plots to ensure they get enough water. It’s also important to note that growing giant plants is random, so just grow these crops normally and you’ll eventually get it.

Harvesting Giant Plants

You can harvest your giant plants by clicking on them multiple times to yield a different number of seeds depending on the type of plant. Players report that this can be double to quadruple the normal number of seeds.

And that’s it! You now know how to grow giant plants in Rusty’s Retirement. If you’re interested in more Rusty’s Retirement, we have a guide on rocks, which can be annoying and get in the way of your farming. Check out our guide that talks about removing rocks for more awesome info!
