Starfield is the first original intellectual property that Bethesda has released in over 20 years. It combines the RPG elements of games such as Fallout with space exploration from No Man’s Sky. This has caught the attention of countless games throughout the world as early access for the game went live.
There are countless quests in the massive open world that players can attempt to get rewards and experience. One of these quests in the Alternating Current one, which this guide will focus on.
Alternating Currents Guide
How To Unlock Quest
The first step is to unlock this quest. This quest can be unlocked after completing Tapping the Grid quest. Once you complete that quest, Louisa Reyez will inform you that she tracked the power drain back to the Trade Authority. For more information, check the Tapping the Grid Quest Guide.
Confronting Trade Authority
When interacting with Louisa, she will inform you of the power drain and then ask for your help in confronting the Trade Authority. In the dialogue choice, select the first option to have her back in the upcoming conversations. Once the dialogue finishes, follow Louisa as she goes to the Trade Authority.
Once inside the Trade Authority, Louisa will head for the reception desk, where she will engage in a heated discussion with Zoe Kaminski. Once their interaction finishes, talk to Louisa and calm her never down by telling her that everything will be okay.
After a short while, Zoe will come back and inform Reyez that someone else is routing power through the Trade Authority. She agrees to share her findings with Louisa.
After this, she will turn towards you and interact with your character. She will agree to work with Reyez and will inform you that you will need to locate and power down Junction Boxes again.
First Junction Box
For the first junction box, head out of the Trade Authority and take the first left. Follow this path, which will lead you to an upper level through a narrow staircase.
Go straight ahead and use the next staircase to head back down. From here, take the first right and go straight. Take the first left in this corridor and use the stairs to head to an upper level.
At the top, you will need to take the door to the right and keep following the path. Eventually, you should reach a door that you can interact with to open it.
Inside the new area, take the path on the right to loop around to the other side. Here, take the first right, and you should see the first junction box in front of you.
Interact with this junction box to power it down and proceed to the next objective.
Second Junction Box
The next junction box will require you to make a choice. Louisa Reyez will want you to go to box 45A, while Zoe Kaminski will want you to go to box 47B.
We recommend listening to Zoe since the junction box is right next to the previous one. Simply backtrack your steps, and there should be a room in front of you. The junction box that you are looking for should be inside that room.
Third Junction Box
The next junction box is on the surface level, so you will need to leave the Well area. Simply follow your waypoint and use the elevator to go to the surface. At the surface, leave the MAST building and follow the waypoint to take the train.
At this point, Zoe will also make you an offer to bring her the evidence, as she will only give MAST what they require. Additionally, she also promises you a reward should you comply with her instructions.
Use the train to head to the Residential District and follow the waypoint. This will lead you to a junction box outside the Athena Tower.
After activating the junction box, Zoe and Reyez will have a brief conversation and will decide that the best step is to explore the building.
Athena Tower
Now, you will need to head inside the tower. Simply use the elevator inside to gain access to the upper levels. Once on the upper floor, leave the elevator and explore the room. There should be a locked door that you can lockpick. It will have a difficulty rating of novice, so it shouldn’t be that difficult.
Inside the room, you should find an Unauthorized Computer that you can access. Interact with this computer to access it and download its files to an external device. This should update your objective so you can proceed to the final step of the mission.
Choosing the Receiver
For the final step, you will have to head back to the Trade Authority area in the Well where you first met Zoe. Here you will find both the women facing each other and awaiting your decision.
If you decide to give the information to Zoe, simply interact with her. You will be rewarded with 2500 Credits and 75 Experience Points.
On the other hand, if you decide to hand over the information to Reyez, simply interact with her. You will receive the same rewards as you did with Zoe, but now all the information will be sent to MAST Headquaters for further analysis.
