In Starfield, players can build large outposts for resource generation, ship building, or just for purely aesthetic purposes. With that said, unlocking new modules can be quite a chore, as it requires a lot of time and resources. To help you out in your outpost building journey, here’s a quick guide on how you can level up your engineering skill!
How to Complete ALL Outpost Modules Challenges
The first step in completing the outpost modules challenges is to unlock the Outpost Engineering skill, which requires you to invest several points into the Science skill tree.
This could mean having to modify multiple weapons and spacesuits, or you may even have to go around scanning flora, fauna, and resources in various planets.
Once you’ve unlocked the Outpost Engineering skill, you’ll have to build different outpost modules in order to level it up. If you’re trying to do this quickly, you will need to stock up on resources such as Iron, Lead, Aluminum, Titanium, and Sealant.
For the first level, one surefire way of ranking it up is by building five different modules from the Structures tab.
This includes the Outpost Airlock, Science Hab Small, Four Wall Hab, or even Hallways. Each variant counts as a unique module, so constructing the four variations of the hallway will all contribute to the skill’s progress.
Past the first rank, we’ve found that furniture and decorations, including their different variations, all suddenly count as unique outpost modules. Because of this, you can spam a lot of tables and cabinets to rank up.
Basically, at this point, just creating anything that you haven’t put down before will contribute towards your progress. It may seem a bit daunting to see the required number shoot up from 5 to 25 and 50, but after the first rank up, building a lot of inexpensive furniture can easily get you there.
NOTE: You can earn many credits by making different chairs, or you can go for the couches, where each type gives you one credit, and you can get your resources back by deleting them after building.
With that said, make sure to check your Outpost Engineering every now and then to ensure that you’re still making progress and not wasting resources. Also, for the sake of convenience, don’t forget to choose a location where you can mine or extract the required resources like Iron and Aluminum!
