How To Beat Devourer Boss

In order to defeat the boss, you must know its attack patterns, mechanics and how to counter them. In this guide, I will mention everything you’ll need to know about the Devourer. Let’s jump right into it!

AOE Attack

The first attack that this boss uses is this devastating AOE Slam attack. The boss will usually initiate this attack when players get too close to him.

Hence, it is best advised to keep your distance from the boss and fight using long-range weapons.

The slam will generate a significant knockback alongside dealing damage. Moreover, a giant Poison Pool will also be spawned on the ground, which can deal tick damage to players.

So, if you prefer fighting close to the boss, then be ready to dodge when this attack comes.

Ranged Dot Attack

The second attack that this boss likes to use involves shooting Poison shots at the player. Be careful of these shots since they stick to the surface on impact and deal Tick Damage.

If you are not careful, then the poison could end up killing your character.

This attack is a good opportunity for your teammates to focus on damaging the boss. While the boss is focused on you, they can simply attack the boss without having to worry about taking any damage. Dodging is important in avoiding these shots, so make sure to time them properly.

Immune Phase

Occasionally, the boss will enter an immune phase where he won’t take any damage. This can be identified when the boss starts to glow red, as shown in the image below.

He will also end up spawning Canisters around the map that are protected by a shield.

Immune phase

The goal here is to attack and destroy these canisters to get the boss out of his immune phase. For this, you will need to head inside the shield to damage the canisters, as the shield will protect them from any attacks that you try to hit from the outside.

These canisters essentially regenerate the health and shield of the boss. So, the goal is to destroy them as quickly as possible to prevent the boss from gaining health or shield back.

The best strategy is to have one player focus on one canister so that you can minimize the health regeneration of the boss.

Shoulder Weakpoint

We recommend focusing on the shoulders of the Devourer boss since these are his weak points. Once you get the shoulders to a yellow state you should be able to grapple on to them and hold on to the boss.

The boss will try to shake you off, so make sure that you hold the Right Mouse Button to stay. Eventually, your character will destroy the shoulder, which will result in the boss being stunned for a longer period.

Once in this stun state, just go below him and shoot the Power Core that is exposed to deal massive damage to the boss.

Shattering the core is really important since it will increase the damage that you can deal to the boss whenever he goes into this state.

Additional Tips

Although focusing on the shoulders is the most beneficial way to get the boss to stun state, we also recommend focusing on other destructible parts.

It will be very likely that your view of the shoulder will be obstructed. So, try shooting the Kneecaps or the Sensors to get the boss into a stunned state.

From here, it is up to you whether you want to go for the Power Core or focus on the shoulders. However, in general, it is better to focus on the shoulders to get that additional stun state.
