The First Descendant: How to Destroy Void Fragments

In a nutshell, pay attention to their color or just read the map!

The First Descendant, like many other games that fall under the same genre, have a lot of different activities that you can participate in to gather various useful resources. Among the things you can grind are void fragments, which can be found all around the map and may confuse new players. In this guide, we’ll quickly show you how to break them!

How to Destroy Void Fragments

If you somehow stumble into a void fragment for the first time while roaming around in a certain zone, you might be a bit confused as to what it is and why you can’t seem to break it.

Well, these are basically missions that will reward you with various resources if you can successfully destroy the fragment. They will all require a specific element to break, and you must use abilities to do so, as weapons do not seem to work.

Open your map and hover over a void fragment to see more details about it. This will show you exactly what type of element you need to break it.

For example, in the image below, you can see that it requires a “Non-Attribute” ability to break. This means that you’ll need to equip a descendant such as Ajax, as his abilities fall under that category. If you don’t have a character that can break it, you’ll just have to move along to something else.

Engaging A Void Fragment

Whenever you start dealing damage to a void fragment, it will become indestructible at certain intervals. When this happens, you will have to deal with an incoming wave of enemies before you can deal damage to it again.

Because of this, be ready for a fight before you start spamming abilities at a fragment. Ideally, you’ll want to use your least important skills to chip away at it and save your more impactful abilities for when enemies spawn in.

That’s the whole gist of it, really. To summarize the whole process, you simply need to make sure that you have a descendant with the appropriate element and just start going to town on the fragment and the enemies that show up.
