The First Descendant puts you in co-op missions where you will need to work with other 3 random teammates and achieve your objective. Your mission tasks will vary depending on which quest you took, from defeating monsters, crafting items or fighting different bosses.

The “Intercept The Normal Devourers In Order To Protect Ingris” is by far one of the hardest missions in the game. This means that there has to be a lot of preparation before you are ready to do this mission. In this guide, we will show you how to defeat the boss and complete your quest.

NOTE: Please be aware that this guide is made from the demo version of the game, and its recommendations may no longer be optimal upon the game’s full release.

Before you get into the mission, you’ll want to have the best gear with you. Bring your strongest weapon as your primary source of damage. Apart from that, you will also need a short-range weapon or a high damaging one.

Some good options for you are a shotgun or a rocket launcher. This will allow you to deal with some of the boss’ attacks when you fight.

It is also recommended for you to bring all three different types of ammo since you will need a lot of them during the mission.

Next, make sure that all of your modules are upgraded to their maximum levels. Keep it in mind that the boss has poison or toxic attacks so it might be a good idea for you to bring those specific types of defenses with you.

Armor Pads / Weak Spots

Before you start the mission, the game will show some of the information you need to know about the boss. When the mission starts, the boss will put on a lot of armor and you will need to hit him in all of his weak spots.

These armor pads are the ones that you want to break to weaken the boss. They are going to be on his knees, chest and his eye sensors. Other than that, he also has shoulder pads which you can break using grapples.

Fighting The Devourers

This boss is a difficult opponent for you to defeat and can be really challenging. It is therefore recommended for you to bring some friends with you who you can communicate effectively with. Once the fight starts, immediately start attacking his weak spots.

It is best for half of your team to go for the ones on his knees and the other half of your team attacking his shoulder plates. You should be able to get through his shield in the first and a half minute of the fight. After that, he is going to go into his second phase and start to heal up.

Every time you break one of his armor pieces, you will be able to stagger him. During this duration, you can use all of your damaging tools and break his chest or eye sensor armor pieces, since they are the hardest for you to break.

If you are weaker, however, you may also consider using this time to respawn or revive your fallen teammates. In the end, communication with your teammates is necessary to decide whether you should break a plate or to recover before continue fighting.

The First Descendant Stagger

As you fight the boss and attack his shoulder plates, it will eventually turn yellow. You can then use your grappling hook along with your attacks to tear it off a little bit quicker. Once the shoulder plate breaks, you will stagger the boss for a short duration.

By the time he goes into his healing phase, coordinate with your teammates and break as many of the plates as possible. The more plates you break, the longer the boss will be staggered. This will then slow down the time before the boss uses the healing move.

Healing Move

After a while, the boss will perform his healing move. During this phase, he will spawn a number of 6 lanterns which you need break to stop his heals. It is best for you and your teammates to focus on one at a time to break these lanterns quickly.

While doing this, be aware that you will have to dodge missiles falling out of the sky. Every 20 seconds or so, you will be able to see a green circle on top of your character. It is best for you to avoid these missiles, since they do a lot of damage and can take you down really easily.

The First Descendant Lantern

While breaking these lanterns, it’s best for you to use high damaging weapons. Some good examples of weapons you can use are shotguns and rocket launchers. These provide you with high damage, especially at shorter range to help you break these more easily.

Health and ammo shouldn’t be a big problem for you if you ever run low on them. Around you, there will be small monsters which you can defeat to start gaining the ammo and health packs. It is always important for you to pay attention to these two stats and never run low on them in battle.

Rest of The Fight

After you and your team have broken all of the lanterns, the rest of the fight will be quite straightforward. You will only need to break the rest of his weak spots and armor plates to stagger him. During that stagger time, you can go for his armor chest plates and eye sensors.

It is best for you not to run in front of him to attack these chest plates or eye sensors since it can be really dangerous.

In the end, the boss will then eventually run out of armor plates for you to break. This means that you and your teammates will only need to do damage until his health bar runs out.

The First Descendant Rest of Fight

That is how you can defeat the Boss and complete the ‘Intercept The Normal Devourers In order To Protect Ingris’ quest. The most difficult part of the fight is whether you are able to break the lanterns quickly. His heals can be really annoying if you fail to stop it so give that some extra attention!
