Having a hard time with the Phase 2: King Thordan & His Twelve Knights?

Worry not, this visual guide will help you mitigate his Strength of the Ward ability.

Visual Guide to Dragonsong’s Reprise Thordan Phase “Strength of the Ward” – Final Fantasy XIV

King Thordan and His Knights

After Thordan use his Ascalon’s Might which is a massive three-hit cleave, he will then move to the center of the arena and begin casting Strength of The Ward.

This will summon the other Knight’s Twelve to the arena and Thordan will become invulnerable to attacks. There are three patterns of how these Knights will appear.

See the three patterns below for the visual guide to get through his Strength of the Ward ability.

Imporant: Each of this possible pattern will be a mirror and/or rotation of the mentioned patterns.

Pattern 1: “3 in a row”

3 in a row pattern

What you need to look for here is there will be three knights in a line adjacent to each other (marked with red color).

To avoid their attacks, the safe spots that you will need to look is one marker adjacent to each knight on the ends (marked with green color

Pattern 2: “The Y”

The Y pattern

What you need to look for here is two knights with one marker separating them and no knights adjacent, hence the Y pattern (marked with red color).

To avoid their attacks, the safe spots that you will need to look is to be one marker adjacent away from each knight, not between (marked with green color).

Pattern 3: “The 2+1”

The 2+ 1 pattern

What you need to look for here is two knights adjacent to each other and a far knight separated by one marker either knight (marked with red color).

To avoid their attacks, the safe spots that you will need to look is the marker between the far knight and the two adjacent knights, and the marker directly opposite (marked with green color).

Credits due to frybaker for this awesome visual guide of Thordan’s Strenght of the Ward.

We hope this guide helps you with Thordan’s annoying mini-phase.
