You’d think a metal detector is the last thing you’ll need in a survival game centered around endlessly floating in an infinite ocean. Looks can be deceiving but this thing can actually help you a lot! Here’s a guide on how to use the Metal Detector and what you can do with it!

Metal Detector Guide In Raft

First off, to get the Metal Detector you need to get to Caravan Island where you can buy the blueprint for making one. Don’t worry, it’s hard to miss the island due to its large silhouette. Next, you need to get 12 pieces of plastic, 6 scrap and 1 battery to actually make one. Next, you’ll need a shovel, which you can craft with 1 metal ingot, 1 bolt, and 6 planks. With all of that done, hop into an island and start searching!

Once you’re on land, equip your metal detector on your hotbar, select it, and hold your left mouse button. This will activate the metal detector and show the small lights on it, these lights will help you find the treasure, with red being too far and green meaning you’re getting closer. It will also emit a beep, with shorter intervals meaning the treasure is closer.

Once you’ve gotten to the point where it’s all green and the detector’s beeping gets unbearable, you can equip your shovel and dig straight down.  It’ll take three hits before the treasure is fully interactable and once you do you can collect your treasure! Loot comes in all sorts of sizes, sometimes you’ll get decorative items and sometimes you’ll get the much-coveted Titanium ore! So go out there and dig some treasures!
