Final Fantasy XIV features a lot of dungeons in the game, and that’s only in the base version of XIV. With the release of the other expansions like Stormblood and Shadowbringers, it’s almost overwhelming how many dungeons there are. Makes you wonder if you have the time to play an MMO if you’re a working adult. However, you can clear most dungeons in 15 minutes, like Sohr Khai in the Endwalker expansion. Here’s a guide to help you clear said dungeon without breaking a sweat.

Sohr Khai Guide for All Roles – FFXIV Endwalker

From the start of the level 60 dungeon Sohr Khai, you will encounter a locked gate. In order to open it, you have to kill the two cube monsters situated on both sides of the gate. Once you open the gate, you’ll continue onwards until you find another locked gate with three cubes. You know the drill, kill them and you’ll be able to unlock the gate.

There are also two fan enemies that look like, well, fans. Killing them will make them drop down and act as trampolines. Step on these and you will jump into the air and land with a Haste buff. So if you find yourself suddenly launched into the air, you have your answer.

First Boss – Chieftain Moglin

After unlocking the second gate of Sohr Khai, you’ll come across Chieftain Moglin, the first boss in this dungeon. After you get a quarter of his health down, other Moogles, including Captain Mogson, will come in and fight you. Quickly deal with Captain Mogson, because he will link directly with Moglin and make him invulnerable to enemy attacks.

The other Moogles have low health, so dealing with them is no problem. As a Tank, you don’t have to even bother with them. The DPS characters can quickly take them out, so just stay focused on Moglin.

When the Moogles are down, Moglin will cast Pom Praise. A purple circle will appear underneath the downed Moogles. It revives them when they cast the spell. Quickly attack the downed Moogles to get them out of the circle before they cast the spell again which revives them.

Near the end of Moglin’s health, more Moogles will spawn in. You can ignore them and let the other DPS characters deal with them, as it won’t matter since Moglin’s defeat will also be their defeat as well. Once Moglin is defeated, a tornado will spawn at the back of the arena. Simply approach the tornado and you will be transported further into the dungeon.

Buzzards and Anzu Eggs

Once you make it further down the path of Sohr Khai, you’ll find Buzzards and Anzu Eggs. Deal with the Buzzards quickly before moving on to the Eggs and deal with them too. If you have New Leafs in your group, make sure to do this fast, because the Eggs hatch into Cockerel, and they deal massive damage, so be sure to watch out for the newbies on this one.

After dealing with this group of enemies, you’ll then deal with another group consisting of 2 Anzu Birds and 3 Cockerels waiting for you. As a Tank, you have to take the brunt of the attack head on, because other classes will not last long against this group of enemies. As a Healer, you have to make sure your Tank is healed and not dead.

Second Boss – Poqhiraj

You will then make it to the next boss called Poqhiraj, a Pegasus monster. The area around you is a linear corridor with not much space to move around. As the Tank, you have to make sure to aggro Poqhiraj and position yourself behind it. This gives your other groupmates an advantage and will deal damage while you’re taking the brunt of the attacks.

Healers and DPS should not be directly behind Poqhiraj, but in the middle of the corridor. Poqhiraj’s skill Burning Bright shoots a line AoE at a random player. If a player is targeted and there is a wall behind them, that wall is destroyed and will reveal an AoE hazard that will damage players who step in. Be sure to stay in the middle so that the attack will not destroy any walls and will instead go through you.

Randomly during the fight, the boss will jump into the air and do a wide AoE attack by slamming down on the ground. When this happens, there will be a marker that will show where the boss will attack. Simply move away from it as far as possible. Take note that this attack will destroy one of the walls.

But don’t relax yet, because the boss will dash down the corridor as an attack, dealing damage to anyone in the way. There’s no way to avoid this, but the closer you are to the middle of the line, the more damage you get. This attack also knocks you backwards, so make sure your back is to a wall to avoid getting thrown off stage.

The boss will randomly also cast Cloud Call, which will target a player and deal AoE damage. If you’re targeted, simply back away at a safe distance from your group and wait till the cloud comes in before moving away. If you’re a Tank, then make sure to run to the other end of the stage, leading the boss as well.

After defeating the boss, proceed further until you encounter 2 Holy Wyverns. Defeating one of these Wyverns will summon a Blizzard Dragon that will AoE attack a platform, at the same time creating a bridge to the other platforms. Proceed until you reach the final boss.

Third Boss – Hraesvelgr

Once you reach the final boss, Hraesvelgr. The stage is a very dangerous area and one wrong move can send you spiraling down. Be sure to watch where you step and think before you move. There are several platforms with tornados around them to help you reach other platforms.

Hraesvelgr is a large dragon, meaning he has a large hitbox. It doesn’t really matter if you’re a melee-focused character. The hitbox is large enough that you can attack from another platform.

One of the boss’ attacks is a large line AoE that can attack up to 3 platforms. Jump over to the other platforms to dodge this lest you get blown off the platform to your death.

Hrasvelgr will sometimes cast Diamond Storm as well, dealing a large AoE damage. This will also spawn ice bombs (no, not THAT Ice Bomb) that will explode after a few seconds. Make sure to be on another platform before it does.

There are two types of these ice bombs. One of which is a large bomb that will follow certain players and explode once reached. The other is a smaller ice bomb that can be taken down if the player attacks and depletes its health.

The next attack is Holy Breath, which is a large AoE attack that targets non-Tank classes. Simply move away or escape to a different platform.

The last attack Hrasvelgr will do casts two golden dragon heads that deal massive damage. These heads will fly all over the stage, so be sure to avoid them as well. It won’t be hard as they are slow to move.

Keep attacking the boss while avoiding its attacks, and you will successfully defeat the boss and clear the dungeon.
